Adding a network share to PMS

I have an Nvidia Shield TV. I want to add an external hard drive to one of its USB ports. My PMS is on a separate PC. Could someone please walk me through the process of adding the content on the external HDD to my PMS?

Edit library - Add Folders - copy & paste \\IP-of-shield\sharename\foldername
You’ll need to enable the ability of the Shield to serve the drive over the network.

But really, you should attach the drive to the server PC directly.

I have a large number of 4K UHD movies on my PMS (internal storage) that will not stream to my Nvidia Shield over my network. My plan is to move those movies to a 14TB external hard drive I just purchased and attach that directly to the Shield, thus avoiding the network issues I’ve been having. So you can see why I don’t want to attach that drive to my PMS. I guess I really should have asked how I share the external drive on my network once it’s attached to the Shield, which isn’t really a PMS question. Sorry for the confusion and I appreciate the help.
