Adding folder of a specific tv show, and other shows are listing

Server Version 1.16.5.1554:
Player Version#:

I recall waaay back, 5+ years or so when I would add media folders as TV or Movies, it would pull imdb type metadata, and never be accurate. I had given up and set everything to Home movies. Then I recall last time I set up a server I picked Other Videos for simplicity.
So here I am in the process of setting up a new machine and I decide to use the TV Shows feature to see how it works now. I shared 1 folder under it, and it has strictly 1 show, Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I share it, and it shows those folders as blank, just the bland names like S01 Season1, S02 Season2, and showing the Plex > Icon.
However I am also getting an entry for Law & Order SVU Season 13 instead of my Season 13, and Season 11 folder is replaced with South Park.
So it doesnt seem to properly detect the legit items, but them mis categorizes S11 and S13.
Regardless I get an error “Playback has stopped due to multiple playback errors” on my Roku. If I try from on my pc error is “Error code: s1001 (Network)”
I added this Always Sunny folder again under Other Videos, 143 episodes, and then watch it merge all but 5. Those 5 work but others do not. I choose to Split apart, but now I have a 138 copies of S01E01 that wont load. Scan library files on that folder does not. Analyze does nothing. refresh meta merges them all but the last 5 again.

This same folder works fine on my old plex server, Version 1.15.6.1079 as of right now.

When you create a library you add the main TV folder, not individual show folders.

You add F:/TV for example. Not F:/TV/Always Sunny

In the past I liked to have F:/Always Sunny so then I can go to the Shuffle option.
So these are in their own folders in the root. As mentioned this behavior worked perfectly fine when set as Other Videos, which isn’t for whatever reason.
Now my Roku is a Hybrid with some shoes, like Golden Girls working fine as F:/Golden Girls/ and showing like on my previous setup, whereas Always sunny is jacked up. Other show I have is Frasier and out of a good 280 episodes, it also merged 2 and 2 for whatever reason.
What should be the proper layout then as I intend to start from scratch pretty much.
Sample, “F:\Always Sunny\S01 480p DVD\S01E01 The Gang Gets Racist (480p DVD x265 10bit.mkv”
I think I saw I shouldnt have them in subfolders per season and have the name of the show in each file name, however in my experience Plex on Roku has gotten a bit more annoying with larger thumbnail views and I cant find specific episodes as easily as just pulling up the Always Sunny library and then going to S05E02, etc.

When you add show folder here like first image below.

You are telling Plex. “This is where all my TV shows are in this folder called Seinfeld”

The first folder it then sees under that is a folder called “Season 1” and it makes a show called “Season 1” with no information because there is no such tv show called Season 1.

This is wrong

This is correct

Also you should never add the root of a drive such as just F:\ You should have a main show folder like F:\TV\ else you are asking for trouble in other ways.

( I am on a Mac so i don’t have drive letters. My drive root is Media)

Ok, hence I didnt use the TV shows library options years ago because it behaved oddly.
So wouldn’t Other video just not do any processing? Thats been my behavior in the past.

Now when I do it like that on the new server it does that merging business.
As for having folders in the root, its been fine for years. I believe 12 days will make 5 years.

Regardless if it is an Other Videos library or not if you want to see a folder called Always Sunny you add the parent folder above it. . Because you are saying this is where all my other videos are. Then you can view by folder and you will see the Always Sunny folder and any other child subfolder.

If you want to add just Z:\ ok, it’s just not recommended

Ok, I made a TV folder and stuck in those 3 shows, and for Frasier and Golden Girls its working fine. Shows load up on my pc browser player fine.
Always sunny appears properly, seasons are split up correctly, etc. However when I try to play any episode I get this error “Error code: s1001 (Network)” .
Any ideas on this one? They are x265 but other x265 load fine.

you might check @ [Solved] ALL movies no longer play after update to PMS v1.15.3.835 (s1001 error) - #60 by infinitejelly

and if that doesn’t help, there are other threads with other info if you search the forums

I was trying some of those with no luck. I decided to copy a few to a general folder and got some errors. Somehow all these episodes got corrupted or something. It doesnt make any sense. I copied another batch from my other machine and they appear fine now. shrug.
