Adding libraries could use a little guidance

I will try to give as much info as I can.
running plex app on qnap TS 431p and I know its a sucky nas for streaming plex but it was cheap
when I go through the steps to add a tv show and it has multi seasons I have had to add each season manually. In other words:

  1. click on the + in plex to add a library
  2. click on tv and then select add folder
  3. click on browse for media folder
  4. go to where I have the tv show stored (on nas)
  5. select show, it will show the path to the show folder.
  6. then I select add library and it starts it scan.
titles are nothing that relates to the show
    Now if I do this
  7. go to media folder and select season 1
  8. select add
  9. go to media folder and select season 2 ect…. for all seasons
  10. select add the library and it will start scanning
Everything comes up like its suppose to and shows 1 icon with number of seasons underneath
    and they all play fine.
Know that all the naming is the same but I have to add each season folder.

I went to another friends and he just selected the main folder and it added all the seasons without having to do each one. I had taken my nas there and we copied the files over to his and it all loaded fine. same names and path

dunno why, any suggestion?

This is incorrect.

  1. Click the + to add a section
  2. Click on “TV” to select the type
  3. Click on “Browse For Folders”
  4. Browse around and find the top level directory containing all your series.
  5. Add this folder. (e.g. /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/tv) . Do not navigate deeper.
  6. Click “Add”

Your structure should resemble:

/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/tv/
  Series 1/
    Season 01/
      Series 1 - SxxExx - Optional Title.ext

To make sure I have this right:
I have my folder named tv (old) for older tv shows
in that folder is like 15 different shows
CACHEDEV1_DEV/multimedia/tv shows (old) (just select that and it will add all the shows correctly?)
I was going to like CACHEDEV1_DEV/multimedia/tv shows (old)/mash (example) and when i do that it has problems.
I will try the other way and see what happens I just wanted to follow up to make sure.

ChuckPA, I was able to test what you said and I will say you are my Hero  you dont know how many hours I have messed with this and did all this one folder at a time… My hair was getting more gray by the min.
thank you

Because I have multiple volumes, I opted to remove that annoyance:
