I may be missing something, but for some reason my TV-Show collections don’t populate “movie collections.” There are plenty of collections that need to cross both TV and Movies, and be ordered appropriately - yet I can’t figure out how to do it.
Specifically I’m attempting with Marvel. I have a well organized movie collection, and want to add some TV Show seasons into it.

The only way to add a TV show season to a collection is by selecting ‘Add to collection’ from the season’s action menu:
Your Movie collection won’t appear in the dropdown, so you’ll have to type in the name (the first time). The name must exactly match the name of the Movie collection.
Once done, when you open the collection, you’ll see the movies and TV seasons, but they won’t be mixed. It will appear like this collection, where I have movies, audiobooks, and soundtracks in the same collection:
In order to be able to put them in a mixed order, you’d have to put them in a playlist, rather than a collection. Pretty much the same method as above, just use ‘Add to playlist’ instead of ‘Add to collection.’
I see… Plex is totally not set up for this then huh? =)
I guess playlist may be the best option for mixing them. It’s a major bummer though, because Plex is advertising the heck out of collections yet it can’t cross over and be used fully in that way. Playlist is an odd way to make it happen but I think i’ll play with that in the meantime as you suggest. Thanks.
Actually, I can’t for the life of me find the playlists anymore. It seems like it was removed… does it still exist somewhere?
It might be under the “more” section, if you want it to show on the left side/Home Screen you will need to “pin” it.
Otherwise, playlists should also be available in each tv/movie library “playlists” section (next to recommended/library/collections/playlists)
I’ve found that as long as the tag for the collection on an object matches it will auto populate cross media pretty well (like the Harry Potter example above). That’s how I’ve been doing it anyways vs the “add to collection” method.
I use “Macross Collection” tag on shows and “Macross Colletion” on movies and I get this:
Just an alternative method to do the same thing. Since I’m usually in that edit screen when I add new content it’s part of my process. I also don’t use the automatic collection function - I don’t know how well that coordinated between Movies and TV shows.
Issue with this one is that you can’t order the TV and Movie entries separately to be in proper watch-order. i.e. Captain America, Marvel Agents of Shield S01, Iron Man, etc…
Very strange, nothing in More and nothing in the libraries.
Have you created a playlist in that library yet? The tab won’t appear until there is one.
