What would be required to add additional country support? Looking at Singapore with a handful of free to air DVB-T2 channels.
XML TV based EPG data is available for example here: http://www.webgrabplus.com/epg-channels
Thanks

We support import using XMLTV format files, so you can import the guide data yourself for regions Gracenote doesn’t support yet.
Please use the link below to report that Singapore is not a supported country and maybe they can add it:

Thanks. I have gone the xmltv route for now but noticed that the epg does not update automatically ( I have a scheduled task to download the newest EGP data into the xml format on daily basis). Although the xml is updated daily, from the looks of it plex does not refresh it automatically but I have to hit the update epg button in the settings manually Anyone an idea how to trigger the plex side update automatically?.
Edit: I have changed the plex maintenance window now as it conflicted with the EPG update which might be the reason for the missing refresh. This should solve it hopefully.
One issue remains though. While I can record all channels, I do not get audio on Android Players when playing the recording. Webbrowser player of the same file works fine though. In addition I’m only able to view live TV of 2 Channels. All the other 6 channels throw the message: “An error has occurred, please try again later” on the Android Client. The 2 channels which work do so consistently (while the 5 channels through the error all the time). Tried to rescan and change the region but the issue remains.
So in summary: Recording works for all channels but Audio only on the webplayer. Live TV on Android only works for the same 2 out of 7 channels, rest throws the message “An error has occurred, please try again later”.
Any ideas?
Hi Idefixsin,
I am also from Singapore and I am trying to setup the live TV using PLEX. Are you able to point me in the right direction as to how you import your XMLTV files into plex?
Thanks!
Hi Philippe,
sure. Here is what you need to do:
Download http://www.webgrabplus.com/ and install the SW on your Plex Server
Create webgrapplus config file(WebGrab++.config.xml) as follows (replace the filename/folder below to one that your server can access):
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<settings>
<!-- for detailed info about the settings see http://webgrabplus.com/documentation/configuration/webgrabconfigxml -->
<filename>D:\TEMP\epgguide.xml</filename>
<mode></mode>
<postprocess grab="y" run="y">mdb</postprocess>
<user-agent>Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0</user-agent>
<logging>off</logging>
<skip>6,1</skip>
<retry time-out="5">4</retry>
<timespan>7</timespan>
<update>f</update>
<!--
Replace the next dummy channel entry with the channels you want.
You can look into the installed siteini.pack folder on your computer
For the latest version,
see http://webgrabplus.com/epg-channels for the available sites/channels
-->
<channel update="i" site="starhubgo.com" site_id="8741959" xmltv_id="HD 5">HD 5</channel>
<channel update="i" site="starhubgo.com" site_id="9370012" xmltv_id="MediaCorp Suria">MediaCorp Suria</channel>
<channel update="i" site="starhubgo.com" site_id="8484391" xmltv_id="MediaCorp Ch 8">MediaCorp Ch 8</channel>
<channel update="i" site="starhubgo.com" site_id="10013198" xmltv_id="Vasantham">Vasantham</channel>
<channel update="i" site="starhubgo.com" site_id="8413941" xmltv_id="MediaCorp CNA">MediaCorp CNA</channel>
<channel update="i" site="starhubgo.com" site_id="9528553" xmltv_id="okto">okto</channel>
<channel update="i" site="starhubgo.com" site_id="8500434" xmltv_id="Channel U">Channel U</channel>
</settings>
Run Webgrap++ and see if the xml file includes channel and content data afterwards. If this works you are ready to import it to plex
Create the DVR in plex (select any country - e.g. UK), scan for channels. When you get to the EPG selection, click the link text (XMLTV content) and enter the path and filename from above.
Final step, select the channels you want to show up and use the drop down to map the XMLTV channel to the scanned channel (note that if there is a SD and HD channel, you can only select one - think the one that I had the issue with was Channel U).
Enjoy a “somewhat” working Plex DVR experience in Singapore
Note: What works for me:
All in all, as somewhat patchy experience. Thinking of using a 3rd party DVR SW instead and Plex just for playback (e.g. NextPVR - XMLTV content above can be reused for that UPDATE: NextPVR is able to get the EPG over the air. No need for XMLTV for it to work
).
Thanks for that. I needed it.
How are you integrating NextPVR with plex now? Are you just recording everything?
i have the same odd problem.
I couldnt play any channels. It came up with the “an error has occured, please try again later.” I could also record the program and play back. This was done on my HTPC.
When I used the tv tuner on my Nvidia Shield, no channels were found.
What a waste, i was hoping Plex media server could house everything on my SHield…
We’ve created a new thread to add countries not currently supported.
It’s 2019. Are we any closer with Singapore getting EPG data for Plex Live TV?
