I’m using the TV Live (with PlexPass) with the Advanced Guide, the result is amazing
It’s set to use xTeve to have access at the IPTV from many sources, it allow me to merge many m3u and XMLTV files, but all the EPG from this provider have the same period, some are giving me EPG for 1 day, some for 3 days.
In Advanced Guide, Plex increase data from XMLTV file in adding synopsis, pictures, …
Sadly, when I update my TV Guide for the one with the shorter period, PMS get again all data and build the new TV Guide
PMS already have the data for the “What’s on later” and the “Movies on later” (synopsis, actors, …). So, why PMS take back again all this data ? Some are already available on the “Movies” library but PMS always download a new copy
It will be nice to have an incremental update and not a full update
and it will be also nice if I was no need to wait PMS finished to update all the XMLTV file in Advanced Guide (can be long like 1h30) to see the “What’s on now” or Guide updated
In looking how PMS was making its job to update the EPG, following is some suggestions to increase update speed of EPG, and save bandwidth :
When receiving the XMLTV file, PMS could parse it and make smaller files, one per day, and update from more recent before the last one, and make the result directly available on “Guide” or “What’s On” : by this way, the users will always have the EPG for the day in first, no need to wait all 14 EPG days be computed
The “Advanced Guide” and the “Guide” could work in asynchrone, firstly, the EPG is updated by the “Guide” and, only after, or while, the “Advanced Guide” will make its job : by this way, the users will have the EPG available, maybe not with the “Advanced Guide” improvement, but it already bu usable
No download again and again the same content for the “Advanced Guide”
Why to donwload again what PMS already have ? Because it’s a full update and not a partial/incremental update ?
The result of the “Advanced Guide” is wonderful, but very too heavy to use with +100 channels with 14 days of EPG for some channels
Fully agree. Mine was tolerable but has recently slowed down massively. I’m at 7% done after 1h30m. The enhanced data should be added asynchronously afterwards, and should not be refetched on every refresh
