I just saw an advert on my own content, while using the Android player. I am a plex pass owner.
I have online media sources disabled.
The content is 100% not available on Plex.
The media does not contain any ads.
What could have happened?
TV is running Android App version - 10.26.0.2578 (6cc7ea1a)
If you have them set to “Disabled for managed users”, then that means that they are active for you. Because you are not a managed user.
Interesting, so unless explicitly opting out, I’m going to see adverts on my own media that is not available on plex otherwise?
No. Ads are never shown with your personal media.
All instances where user have reported that they are appearing with their personal content were mistaken.
Remove the Discover library from your side bar.
And inspect the items in your Continue Watching hub closely.
Chances are that you will be shown items from plex’s own “Movies & TV” prominently there.
To be a contrarian - the content is quite definitely not available on plex, and I got served an ad. The ad is not in the media.
I have checked the plex logs server side - I don’t see anything regarding ad serving; would this be visible if I enable debugging, or is it only a client side thing (ad serving)?
Check your Android device for malware, I’d say.
Particularly the cheap ones might even come with an Ad trojan pre-loaded.
Actual Google device I brought back from the States, Plex is from app store, and this is the first time I’ve seen an Ad on the device during playback.
Seemed to be a plex served ad. - orange Ad in top right corner, and had plex on it.
I’ll check for malware too.
Is there anywhere in Plex server side that logs if an advert is/was shown, so I can eliminate that?
Server is running the latest docker version of plex
Inspect the client logs.
And make double sure that you are playing your own material, and that you have NOT enabled Trailers to play automatically.
It’s a non-rooted Google 4k tv box running the standard plex apk from the App Store.
Could you explain how I could see the logs client side?
Content in question was TV content, not a movie.
For what it’s worth - I’ve never been able to play plex trailers as they’re not available in my region / firewalled off by the country. ĺŠ ć˛ąä¸ĺ›˝
