After full computer system reset & reinstall of Plex, setup wizard won't launch

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488-cc260c476
Player Version#: 2.24.0.924-63fcaa8e

I did a factory reset on my computer and when setting up Plex again, I downloaded the latest version of Plex media server for Windows, but the setup wizard will not launch so Plex isn’t able to complete the setup to view my drive. Does this have something to do with the IP address that was originally used to setup plex the first time is the same now? Do I need to reset my IP address? I am lost.

Any ideas?

Do you mean the setup that is done via the browser or are you referring to the actual installation of PMS via the setup.exe?

If you are having issues with the browser setup, please make the PMS is running and let us know what exactly your browser is having issues with.

I followed the basic setup guide, downloaded and installed the PMS, hit launch, then nothing happens. It doesnt actually launch and I can’t really go any further. The browser should launch and take me to the setup wizard but I can’t actually get anywhere else. Is this a problem because my account has already been set up once before on my IP address? The PSM isn’t actually running in the background and it can’t find a server because I can’t actually finish the setup

Your new PMS install does not have a way of knowing about a previous install after a factory reset (not before signing into your your Plex account, anyways.

So your are not seeing the plexmediaserver.exe in the Task Manager?

You can always open the browser and navigate to the web interface manually by going to http://localhost:32400/web or http://127.0.0.1:32400/web.

If none of this works, check if there any logs in the PMS data directory. Details on where to find that directory here.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, none of those steps worked, the PMS was not showing in the task bar at any point, though when I opened the task manager, it was listed as a background process but was showing 0% in CPU, memory, disk, and network utilization. I was unable to open the web interface manually. I ended up just resetting my computer, and reinstalled and it initiated the setup correctly. There was some sort of error on the back end that I couldn’t see and I assume windows was blocking the setup from completing. Thank you again!
