After last update click to play next episode only works for the first episode

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639 (asustor & windows)
Player Version#: 8.29(7486) Apple TV

Something really weird has started happening recently: when playing tv shows at the end credits the click to play next episode only works on the first time shown.
If I continue watching the show subsequent episodes do not allow me to click to play next and I have to wait until the credits end to auto play the next one.
Auto play works fine, just the option to click play directly in the next episode does not work after the first time it’s done.
If I stop watching and go the the library and the access the current episode I can click on next but again only once.
This is kind of very annoying.

Using the option to use “previous player” does not solve the issue.

Only happens on the Apple TV, And the iPad and iPhone it seems to work fine. But in those I click on the screen so maybe it’s something related to the interactions with the remote.

It’s a bit less consistent.
The issue‘s been reported before (also forwarded to Plex devs just before the holidays).

In my case it is consistent: only the first episode when watching in sequence can be clicked while the end credits are rolling.

But let’s see if the devs can help here. It is not impeding me to enjoy the content but I have to admit it is annoying.

Can you remove all additional remotes from Apple TV Settings and only use the Apple TV remote, does this fix the problem?

Happens for me with just a single remote connected to the Apple TV.

also happens to me on a new installed apple-TV 4K with a single remote

To add insult to injury, it has finished a show and then says Skip Credits in fullscreen (no automatic skip), I select Skip Credits and then drops to Up Next waiting for my input to proceeed.(I don’t use countdown or autoplay next episode)
Looks like someone tried to fix it but failed big time!!

The change you mention is that the Plex iOS/tvOS apps no longer minimize the video and show the „Up Next“ screen while the credits play. Instead the video keeps playing in full screen, offering us the „Skip Credits“ button.

That’s the same experience you used to get before Plex changed the default to minimize the video (as many users complained about that).
Plex have not yet added the new Player Experience preferences to those apps which will give Plex Pass members more control over that behavior.

I don’t think the change is a reaction/fix for the issue discussed in this thread (although it’s obviously mitigating this symptom).

I suppose it’s ok then.
I am also experiencing the video minimizing towards the end of the show upto a minture before the credits even started, but 99% of the time it works fine.
I would still like to see the option to automatacally Skip Credits, that would fix everyones problems !!
BTW, how do I use the spell checker, my spelling is not the best.

probably depends on your browser and OS

For some reasons now, I’m not getting the Skip Credits!!
When I hit the back button on the remote when credits are playing I get the next up episode and selecting play does nothing until it ends.

Adding my +1 to this as well. I posted about it on reddit as well. Others have confirmed.

Yep. +1 or should I say +2. Happening on 2 separate Apple TVs I have.

Same here. Multiple Apple TVs have the same behaviour. All clients, and server on the latest version.

I only have one remote. The apple remote i mean.

I’m having this issue on my Apple TV for months now and it’s very annoying. When watching shows and when the end of an episode comes up, I have to click the “back/menu” button on the Apple TV remote to get it to minimize and show the “Play Next” episode option. But then you cannot click the next episode. It does the animation like it’s clicking but nothing happens. So you have to go back to the season list and select the next episode.

The other thing I want to add to this is that I use subtitles (SRT) and when it auto plays the next episode (after the 15 second timeout because I cannot click it), subtitles will not show on next episode, even though it’s selected in the menu. So to get them to show up again, you have to disable them, then re-enable them and they will start working.

It’s quite buggy and annoying.
