After Plex for Mac install, Plex isn't reading any new files

I must ask why is PMS Titled with a numeral 5? # server versions

when you copy without telling it to replace it and choose “keep both” it does that. sometimes it happens due to invisible files too. but if i am understanding it is not even asking which is the issue and so strange.

Ok got yah. To me then, the only solution is a full uninstall of Plex media server and then install again so it can be allowed access correctly. It maybe prudent to uncheck Removable Volumes access prior. I have never had 3 Servers installed and I’m not sure the normal procedure for Uninstalling will be correct. It should be except the three Application folders in Applications will need to be added to the trash.

PMS 1 is 1.9.4
PMS 3 is 1.18.4
PMS 5 is 1.18.5

When I download it, my computer asks me if I want to move it to the applications folder.

Also my computer isn’t asking me if I wanna replace it or not. It just adds a second (and third) server.

And do you know why I can’t delete a Library?

It ask that when an app tries to launch from another location. Not sure if you are or the browser is opening it right after download but I would open the zip and manually move the app to applications if you are not. It is strange it is not replacing the older one in any case.

What I think is happening is that the first time you upgraded it opened 1.18 and in that update there was some changes to the database. When it was launched as 1.18.5 at times commands were referencing the old server path to “Plex Media Server.app” which was the old existing 1.9.4 one and things got out of whack from there as the old version cannot handle those changes to DB. I don’t even see reference to the new “Movies2” library in logs

For right now what I would do is

  1. quit the server that is running.
  2. Move PMS1 and PMS3 someplace else. Zip them up maybe so no chance of launching. or delete them. up to you.
  3. rename PMS5 1.18.5 to Just Plex Media Server.app by removing the 5
  4. launch it again let us know how things are.
