Alexa Echo Link

Is there any way to enable streaming of FLAC audio files to Echo Link (and Echo Link Amp) as these two Amazon devices support FLAC playback? Right now FLAC is being transcoded to mp3 @ 320 kbps. How do I create a custom player profile for Echo Link to enable FLAC playback or change the codec to AAC (m4a) ? I am running Plex server on Raspberry PI

Thank you in advance,

Steve

This is not just the Echo Links it is affecting.
I have echo dots v2 and v3 and have the same issue.

Reading through old posts from 2018 and 2019 many people have mentioned it but I have not seen a ‘fix’ mentioned.
If there is a fix and someone can point me to it then please do.

@Plex Admins - How can we get Alexa to play FLAC direct and not transcode.

I wasn’t aware that Echo Dot can play FLAC or any other lossless format. Anyways, as far as I understand each Plex player has a profile stored on a server and by manipulating this profile you can direct the server to either stream with passthrough or convert. I am trying to find out which profile is being used by Amazon Echos and how to change it to allow for FLAC playback. Look here: Client Profiles - Do these get overwritten?
