Will it resolve the issue reported in iOS download TV season force transcode - #5 by alehandro.ax where all downloads are forcefully transcoded even though quality is set to Original and they direct play when watching online? If there is an option, I would like to forcefully disable transcoding, first in PMS and then the app if necessary
My other profile users are not able to watch anything offline they downloaded to the plex app on their iPads. At first they got download errors on everything, and had the transcode issue. I saw above where you said the iOS issue was fixed with a beta, but not sure how to get that from the app store. The client version weâre using is 2025.17.0(1082)
Tried to delete the app on the ipad and reinstall. Afterwards, it wonât even load. Goes directly to the âuh ohâŠsomethings not rightâ screen. Then nothing. Strange thing is I have another user on our Plex Home account and itâs working on their iPad, just not this one.
2025.18 has for me fixed the bug where when downloading a season, the shows are transcoded even when they can be directly played.
Just be aware, that you are remote, and you have a bandwidth limitation in place, if your download bitrate is more than the limitation, Plex will transcode the download. This isnât likely the issue you are talking about, as your items can be directly played, but came as a surprise to me.
Sounds like the issue I am having will be resolved in v2025.18, yet I would like a confirmation on that from one of the devs. I am able to download single episodes manually, which is tedious. Download speed is thankfully fast with 70-90 MB/s locally and probably close to 60 MB/s remotely.
Everything is set to orginal quality at my end with no limitations. Everything is limited to Wi-Fi only though in my iOS Plex app. My setup handles the 250 mbit Jellyfish bitrate test both locally and remotely fine on CoreELEC devices. I have not tested the clip for the iOS app, so thatâs something Iâll do just for fun later on
2025.18 is on a staged rollout to production. If you are on iOS you should be able to force the update by checking the app store. On Android youâll have to wait until it rolls out to your device (may be a few days) or grab the build and manually sideload.

For me itâs not fixed, I have 2025.28 version and tried to download something, after transcoding the episode, I always get this error:
In my tablet, I made a downgrade of the Plex app and it works perfectly

Full seasons should no longer transcode but some episodes of a season might depending on the media.

Hi, server is Version 1.41.9.9961 and ios version is 2025.19.0 (1132). I canât download with or without WIFI option activated, from both ios and ipados
