My iPad running the latest iOS software updated to the latest released plex app. I download shows for travel and the shows I add get stuck in the queued state. In reading some other user experiences it sound like you have a test flight version that may resolve it? They appear in the console to transcode briefly but then go away there too. But they never make it to the iPad.
Iām having the exact same issue, everything about downloads worked fine on the older version but in the new one I canāt download anything. Iāve tried deleting the app, restarting my ipad and nothing. On my android phone works fine.
Same issue here
Same issue here, but on iPhone
Can you check the following.
It seems the default settings of the app is WiFi only
Go to your Avatar / Downloads/ there you will find 3 sub menus, select settings and disable Wifi only
Just changed the setting. Same issue, my iPad only has WiFi connection. It transcoded the show but stays in a queued state and doesnāt download it.
Restart your device and try again, works fine with version 2025.15.0
Restarted. Client version 2025.15.0 (1053). Platform version 16.7.11. Still sitting queued. I removed what was there, rebooted and re-ququed again. Same, stick after transcoding in a queued state. Never gets to downloading
It is on my iPad that only has WiFi. Itās an iPad 5th generation running iPadOS 16.7.11. It worked fine before the reworked download within plex
Iām still having this same issue on ios using only wifi. On 2025.15.0 (1053) - old downloads donāt work so I removed them all. New downloads get stuck in queued and canāt be played or anything. Iāve tried changing all the different configurations/reinstalling/rebooting. Seems like a bad update considering the amount of issues people are having.
Same issue here on an iPad 5th Gen (WiFi only). Running version 2025.15.0 (1053) none of my downloads work and just sit in within the āIn Progressā tab within the download section and in a āQueuedā status. Feels like a bad update / issue with this iPad version / iPad OS specifically as my iPhone 16 Pro Max works without issue.
Update - I have pulled the log file from the device and it looks like the downloads directory which Plex is attempting to use is not accessible. This maybe related to some malformed JSON which there are errors in the logs for. I believe this one is going to be down to a bad update and hopefully will be patched soon.
I have the same iPad (5th gen, ipados version 16.7.11), the same problem. All downloads from the previous version of the app appear without thumbnails and are labeled āmigrated.ā Itās impossible to play anything. Also, the downloads remain queued. Please fix the feature. I deleted all my downloads, the app, and I rebooted the iPad. The problem remains. On my other devices, Iām able to download without any issues using my current setup.
Plex for ipados 2025.15.0 (1053) is garbage. The previous client was working well for a long time, now, like everyone on this thread downloads donāt work. New downloads are stuck at Queued. Playlists do not recognize previously downloaded items, even though in the raw download list they show as migrated (all groupings gone - previously when whole playlists were downloaded, they were grouped as playlists in the download section).
Iāve seen all the announcements of changed direction, feature changes, etc and wasnāt worried, but now, Iām worried. How can a client with this level of disfunction get pushed out, I donāt understand it.
Iām having the same issue since the new iOS update 2025.16.0
iPad 5th GEN iOS 16.7.11
Server version 1.41.6.9685
PLEX : Any idea when this will be fixed?
Everything was functioning properly on my iPad 7th Gen before the update.
Hello! This problem is on our radar and weāre investigating a solution. Based on our troubleshooting this specific problem seems to be on iOS 16 devices. Iām not sure when a fix will land in a beta / release but we are definitely working on the issue. Thanks for your patience, I know this is a frustrating bug.
My brother-in-law has an iPad on iOS 18.5 and is having this exact same issue. Therefore, this cannot be an iOS 16-only issue. What I havenāt seen from others if they are attempting to download from their Plex instance (i.e., from their home account) or whether they are downloading from someoneās else Plex instance. In my BILās case, he is downloading from my Plex server. I can attach logsāboth server and client sideāif thatāll help the investigation.

There are likely multiple issues going on here. The failure might look the same but the underlying problem is potentially different. If you can DM me your logs here Iāll be happy to try and chase this down further on our side!
Just wanted to add that downloads are completely broken on both my iPhone and my iPad. I travel for work and spend lots of time on airplanes, this is unacceptable. I have been a Plex Pass user since 2017 and this is by far the worst set of updates ever. My iPhone is on app version 2025.17.0 and my iPad is on version 2025.17.0. All downloads receive the message āDownload Failedā whenever I try and download remotelyā¦but I can stream remotely with no issues. Very disappointing
This is happening on my kids iPad on the latest version of iOS that it supports (16.7.11).
This worked fine before Plex forced their own āSonos 2.0ā app on everyone.
Please fix this, was such a critical feature for traveling with kids, and the new āāmodernā version is not something we wanted or asked for. At least offer the legacy version until the new one has feature parity.
There are so many similarities between the new Plex release and the new Sonos app. Please learn from their mistakes!
