Always getting Playback Error on Samsung TV

Player Version#: Samsung Smart TV, latest version (5/9/2024)

.mkv files crash with “Playback Error” with less than 5 minutes to play. File plays fine from laptop (cast to) or Display settings, “Connect to wireless display”. Plays fine with VLC on laptop and Android Pad. Plays fine on laptop with plex desktop app. Plays fine with Firecube in theatre.

Only get the error on living room Samsung TV with Plex and happens every time shows are played.

So the problem seems to be the Plex app on this Samsung TV. Any other way I select and play content (initiated with Plex app in Windows PC, Android pad, etc.) with any other device (laptop, different TV with Roku interace) all work fine. Boo Samsung. Will likely use a Fire stick or another streaming device.

Same here. Around the 5 minute mark, the video stops, starts buffering, and never comes back. Eventually it displays an error.

By looking at the playback data, I can see that the transcoding is throttled pretty much instantly, but it never manages to un-throttle after the 5 minute mark.

Frustrating.

I do believe it is the samsug client app. I wish I could revert to the prior release. Does plex even bother to monitor these posts?

Does this always happen, or only when using subtitles?
Plex on Samsung (still) has issues when subtitles are displayed.

I’m not using subtitles. This problem resolved itself but has resurfaced in the last couple of days.
