Amazon Fire TV and app.plex.tv suddenly not connecting to my Plex Media Server

This issue happened suddenly and I do not understand what happened at all. I don’t believe there were any changes to my network configurations recently.

When I try to access my media server via my LG Smart TVs directly via their native Plex App, they can see and stream from the server just fine. However, now, when accessing the server through the FireTV plex app it just shows the caution/warning triangle symbol on the server library. And when accessing the server via app.plex.tv it does the same thing with an error message saying “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “” securely“.

However when connecting to the server via its local IP (http://192.168.100.150:32400/web) as you can see attached, I can view the media just fine.

Note that even accessing app.plex.tv on the server machine (running Windows 11) itself, it shows the same exact error, meaning it cannot even connect to itself somehow.


I have already tried following attempts:

  1. Changing the Primary and Secondary DNS servers of my router to Google’s and Cloudflare’s public DNS servers respectively (8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1). and restarting the router and machines.

  2. Modified ‘allowing list of addresses (IP/subnet) to connect without auth‘ to include (192.168.100.0/255.255.255.0). I checked the IPs of the machines trying to connect and they do have this subnet.

  3. Adding a custom server address (https://192-168-100-150.plex.direct/web) which I believe is what plex already exposes for https connections.

  4. Toggling the ‘Secure Connections‘ option from ‘Preferred’ to ‘Required’ then back to ‘Preferred’. (side-note I don’t even have a Disabled option; I had found multiple sources mentioning this option which I don’t even have).

  5. Disabled Remote Access for debugging the issue.

You were affected by the “stuck certificate” issue that plagued a number of other users as well.
