Anamorphic Playback PS3 App

I know this has been spoken about before but 45minutes of looking can’t find a discussion here. So sorry for the repost but would appreciate an update.

I am one of those people who bought the Plex Pass just to get the PS3 App, just to stream my Ripped DVD’s. I have a lot of DVD’s and many are old so they are Anamorphic. As others have said, if you play them from plex through basic DLNA networking, they actually play fine on the PS3, so it can be done.

Last I heard Plex had notifed Sony of this issue and Sony were supposedly looking into it. Apparently they had to do something as it’s a Sony PS3 App.

Any updates, idea when we will, if we will be able to playback anamorphic video properly using the PS3 app?

Have just read the incorrect aspect ration on PS4 post here. Sounds like anamorphic issue, and although it’s PS4 I’m guessing it’s the same issue/problem from sony. Will go with that unless an admin has any more specific PS3 info?

Yes same problem. Sony has reportedly fixed the issue although we’re waiting on them to provide a stable platform update for us to update the Plex app.

Thanks Matt, good to know. Playing movies through DLNA sucks. Can’t FFWD and it doesnt’ remember where you’re up to. Not like PLEX.
