I’m trying to play an MKV of a TV show, ripped from a DVDS, on my 1080p TV. Even though the show is in 16:9, the Plex app displays it in a narrower ratio (it looks like 16:8 or 16:7). As far as I’m aware, it’s a stock server profile, the most recent Pass build.
Any idea why this might be happening?
might try setting transcoder to auto under settings i was having some issues with ratios being wrong but when i set that to auto seems to fixed the problem on ps4 and vizio tv just a suggestion.
There's a platform problem displaying anamorphic (dvd rips) on the PS3 and PS4.
I am also experiencing the same issue displaying anamorphic content via the PS3 app.
The same anamorphic content works properly using the Android app. Hopefully, this will be an easy fix.
Otherwise, I'm really digging the PS3 app!

Is this an issue that will be fixed soon? Some of my DVD-ripped m4v movies are shown in the correct aspect ratio, but others are stretched incorrectly.

Any line of sight on a Fix? All my DVD's play at the wrong aspect ratio. Works perfect on Chromecast on all Plex clients except PS4.

I'd like a status on this as well. I'm seeing this issue for my anamorphic rips. Playing them with the DLNA server works fine, it's just the plex app that mishandles the anamorphic conversion.
Hi everyone. Sony is working on a fix. We're dependent upon them to fix the issue. Trust me that I'm their ear weekly. :)
Once a fix is ready we'll need to update our application binary. Will post an update in this forum when this set of events is done.

Only program ? far as i know plex is only one out for ps4 that can play your own files the other apps are streaming thier own custom files from the internet.
PS3 also has same issue…
Any update on this? A lot of my library is unwatchable on the PS4. Every SD/DVD-sourced file is played back as 4:3. Even on some 4:3 content, there seems to be a single line of pixels on the right side of the video, which is not visible on any other Plex app.
Adding my name to the list of people waiting for this fix. Im in the process of converting my files to non-anamorphic as otherwise the plex app on PS4 and PS3 is useless, I might as well go and buy another chromecast and use that without paying for the plex pass. I noticed that mkv files recorded through the PlayTV app on the playstation itself also play in the incorrect screen resolution too. Very annoying.
Also having the same issue I think. Specifically trying to play the Hobbit 3D and wondering if its the file resolution that is the issue at 1281 x 534 mp4? It plays fine in my chrome browser but timesout when trying to play to PS4. All other movies and tv shows play fine.
Appears that this feature is less important than all the others however the majority of us who backs up their DVD collection means we have to stick with Chromecast or roku devices I guess.
This totally destroys Plex on PS3 and PS4 for me. Really hope it gets fixed soon but if we’re dependent on Sony I can’t see anything coming quickly, at least where the PS3 is concerned.
I echo everyone's frustration. No fix yet from Sony. Will dig in and see if I can find a workaround. Super frustrating. :/
