PS4 app aspect ratio problem

Hello,
The ps4 app seems to ignore anamorphic encoding. I have widescreen movies and tv shows (Hostel, archer season 5, etc.) with a PAR 1.79 that I have encoded with handbrake (both loose and strict anamorphic settings). These are streamed from a plex server on a windows 7 computer. When viewed on the plex app for ipad and android phone everything is fine. when streamed on plex through chrome web browser everything is fine. However, when using the ps4 app the anamorphic information is ignored so everything appears stretched vertically. This is not an issue with the TV setting as cycling from 16:9 to 4:3 to scan to zoom all still have the problem. Also, if I encode in handbrake with square pixels (anamorphic none, 720x400) then the ps4 plex app displays correctly.
Is anyone else having this problem? is it on the radar for a fix?
thanks

Yeah, it’s a known problem since it came out. I think they’re waiting on a new codec from Sony. :frowning:

Has Sony or Plex said there is any kind of timeline for this? Seems like having a plex app for ps4 is pretty much useless until this is fixed. What is the point of a plex app for ps4 when a large percentage of movies will come out looking like garbage and there is no work around that does not involve re-ripping all of the affected videos.

I’m having the same problem with ps3. Everything works fine through Kodi, but It would be so much better to get it working on a ps3.
