Andriod app shows server as offline

Server Version#: 1.23.2.4656
Player Version#: 8.18.2.25850
Having this issue with my samsung s20u the app shows my server as offline but if login via web browser it app looks normal and can play shows etc. I’ve tried clearing app cache multiple phone/app reboots also uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Im conneccting remotely to my server also tried with vpn to home network but no luck so far.
Fairly new to this so if more info is needed please let me know.

I am having the same problem when using Plex on my Android phone.
1.23.3.4706-f48049cad on my Synology NAS
8.19.2.25850 on my Pixel 4a

I have tried clearing cache and app data for the Plex app on my phone. Even uninstalling the app on my phone. The server always shows as offline. I can access the server via the web, from my Roku, and from my Chromecast.

I’m using android 11. My windows os is running plex 1.23.2. From my android when I open the plex app it says n internet connection but if I open a browser and go to plex.tv/web I can see my content just fine. I tried to stop the plex app and clear cache but still same issue. Any fix on this yet?

Exactly the same issue here. Can see my server fine from the browser using both the local IP and from outside my network. Android app is a complete no go. Cleared cache etc with no luck.

Tried each app back to 8.17.0 and all have the same issue so must be Plex server

Server version 1.23.2.4656

I got mine to work.

Don’t know if it’s an expired cert or something but this is what I did. In the Android app I went to Settings → Advanced-> Allow insecure connections and enabled on the same network and it started working again.

Edit:
Worth calling out, if you use it remotely you’ll need to set it to always, but just be aware of what that means. Should be relatively low risk, but try and understand the risks before you do this blindly. I’m not a security expert, so cannot explain this and give it the fairness it deserves.

Same issue. One day the Plex app is working perfectly on my Android Samsung Galaxy s9+ phone - I’m able to play videos stored on my Windows 10 computer/Plex server - and then bam! The app shows the server as being offline. Nothing I have tried, which is every suggestion Plex gives (latest version of server and app; logging out of both server and app then logging back into both; never used a proxy or VPN; reinstalled the app; turned off auto log-in; checked that server sees the phone device - it does! - tried EVERYTHING) but the stupid app still says OFFLINE and sits here like a useless lump. I’ve paid for a lifetime Plex subscription that I am suddenly unable to use. Plex has got to resolve this issue - which A LOT of Android users seem to be experiencing- once and for all. They should be ashamed of themselves for letting this bug work its way back into the app again and again. Now I’m dead in the water. Plex is UNUSABLE.

Amazing! alexsah’s solution - which posted as I was writing my rant above - worked perfectly! And I could even turn Auto log-in back on. Woo Hoo!

What a completely illogical and counter-intuitive solution. But thank you for thinking of it and letting us know here. Bravo, alexsah!

Now if only PLEX would permanently fix their stupid app so users wouldn’t have to expose their devices this way just to successfully connect to their server. Wouldn’t that be good? Listen up, PLEX: FIX YOUR APP!

Thanks alexsah. So I just changed mine to “on same network” and it started working again. I hope they fix this bug soon! Insecure connection set as “Always” is not recommended but it does “fix” the issue (a work around).
