I know people are already complaining about the new app but I cannot even find my existing libraries in the app. I have a lifetime plex pass and all of a sudden cannot watch my content on my phone.
The server is running on the same network. I can access the server in the browser on my phone. I just have a Movie and TV library so not music or photos.
I also do not have any special characters in my phone name or plex server name. I have tried clearing the cache, removing and installing the app again. Signing in and out.
Any ideas on what to do here? I just want to be able to access my library on my local network on my mobile device!
Same here. I have tried everything. Remote Access says I should be able to access my library from the app, but it just doesnāt work. Glad I only signed up for the monthly subscription because I am about to cancel.
Finally found a solution.
For me things kind of started working when i enabled remote access, but it would say that I am not on the same network when i tried to play something on the phone app.
So what I did was disable the remote access (I wasnāt trying to do remote access anyways), then I opened app.plex.tv, went to settings and network (had show advanced settings turned on).
Glad this worked for you. I tried this suggestion, but still canāt see any libraries on plex android app on local network on same phone it worked on before the app update. Other devices on the same network continue to work fine.
Overnight, my android app auto updated to version 2025.17.0 and now my libraries show up. Nothing about this in the changelog I could find. However, downloads do not work. They all fail with āconnection failedā error.
The mobile app logs donāt give a lot to go on with a non-specific noConnectionError. I can see the libraries now and watch videos from those libraries streaming on the android device via the native app. Does plex perhaps use a different network port for downloads vs discovery and streaming? Below are the relevant logs and which ports are exposed on plex server on docker.
I removed the IDs from the log message with variable names surrounded by percentage signs:
Looks pretty basic, but android app is updated and remote access is on. All I can get out of my three libraries (Photos, Videos, a Music) is Videos. So strange. I hope they can fix this soon or itās not worth our time.
With the previous version of the Plex player for android, audio (and video) files could be downloaded to the device. With the new clients/apps, those files are not accessible. Installing the new PlexAmp application, audio files that were downloaded to the device are not accessible. The documentation states that PlexAmp only does streaming from a Plex server. Video files locally downloaded locally are not available in the Plex app either. Iām guessing that only streaming from a plex server to the video app is the only way to watch videos on my android.
I travel frequently for work (Car and airplane) and do not always get a signal for allowing streaming of music/video.
Is there going to be an update to allow media files downloaded locally be available by using either the Plex or the PlexAmp?
My Plex client is V15, the PlexAmp is 4.12.3 my Android OS is 15, One UI 7.0, Lifetime Plex Pass holder
Same issue. Iām not Lifetime Plex Pass - only have the whatever new streaming subscription.
Pretty useless. I can access the streaming fine via web browser on my phone, but in the new Android app my library doesnāt show up at all.
Anyone have further solutions?
Iāve disabled and reenabled remote access.
Iāve got portfowarding to the server machine on the router (which I didnāt need before they screwed up everything, soā¦)
Iāve got the portforward on in the server settings.
Iāve cleared the cache / reinstalled the android app multiple times.
Iāve restarted, relogged in to the server and windows desktop app multiple times.
STILL NOTHING WORKS for the Android phone.
I tried granting access to myself on my library, and noticed that I get a 422 error. In HTTP terms this means an unprocessable error - ie configs screw up. Data format is fine, but whatās contained in it isnāt making sense somehow.
Hi All,
I am a lifetime user from a long time, since 2022.
My PLEX Server is operational and working outside my local network only via browser and TV app.
BUT, It is completely OFF from any Android or IOS app.
Both apps can not find my libraries.
This issue has more than months, just stopped after app update.
On app settings, they just removed from menu the option to manually set the servers or to set to permit unsecure connections.
I really convinced that they are causing issues to sell new facilities (signatures), there is no other explanation for months of issues and the completely silence from PLEX.TV.
Just the fact of they do not have a formal place to open a ticket and complain on their website is a prove. They just redirect us to forums to try our luck to find a solution.
The App for photo is working as expected from outside lan.
Are you guys aware that the new app no longer sorts photos and music, only video libraries? There is a new dedicated app for photos and PlexAmp for music.
If you are having issues with video libraries, youāll need to provide logs to identify the issue. It may not be the same issue for everyone.
Same issue as OP. All of a sudden none of my Android devices (Phone and my 4 Google TV apps) can find my NAS Plex Server/Libraries (Movies & TV Shows), with everything on the same local network. Only thing that does work is web access.
Very frustrating, Iāve spent hours fiddling with settings, checking my network and router, but nothing and it was all working fine before the Plex server update.
OMG THANKYOU!!! This fixed it for me. I have an offline library and I think they must have ādone a Sonosā with the mobile app making want to acknowledge the library online. I have CGNAT and canāt port forward so I canāt really set my library for remote view even if I wanted to, but following those steps 1-enabling remote access 2-set Custom server access URL to internal IP 3-disabled remote access, worked.
