Android apps on network not showing libraries, web access does

Server Version#: 1.41.7.9799-5bce000f7
Player Version#: 2025.16.0

I can log in on the localhost and i see my libraries. I can log in through the web interface from outside my network and I see the libraries. If I log in from my phone, tablet, firestick or fire TV on the local network, I don’t see my libraries.

Also, even though I can access my server and see my libraries from outside my network, Plex says remote access is not available!

Any idea what’s going on?

Same issue here. Plex updated the mobile app on android and now it can’t see my local network server and shows the “no libraries found” message under libraries. I renamed by phone and restarted (which is english with no special characters). I checked my libaries and there are no special characters. Other clients on my local network (same subnet) work just fine, including iOS and roku devices. I won’t sideload apps on my phone, so I can’t downgrade the version to reconfirm it works on older version. However, i know it worked fine before the app update.

server: 1.41.7.9799 (pms latest docker image)
android: 2025.16.0 (from google play store)

Resolved! ChatGPT suggested this:

1. Enable “Enable Local Network Discovery (GDM)” on the server

  • Go to the Plex Web UI on your server.
  • Navigate to:
    Settings > Network
  • Make sure “Enable GDM (network discovery)” is checked.

2. Set “List of IPs that are allowed without auth” (important for local clients)

Still under Settings > Network:

  • Find the field: “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth”
  • Enter your local subnet (example):

CopyEdit

192.168.1.0/24

This tells Plex to allow local devices like your Fire TV to connect without strict auth/token redirects.

3. Restart the Fire TV and Plex app

Let it rediscover the server.

Glad that worked for you. It didn’t work for me, so i assume different issue. Had both of those settings already applied. Discovery of the server works for all clients except android.

Keep in mind this will also let every device in your home network access your server with your account privileges. Any other person will see what you see and their watch history will be added to your account.

Not sure you really need that.

I have version 2025.21.0 downloaded on both my android phone and android tablet and for some reason it works perfectly fine on my phone (can view libraries and play content) but I can’t locate the libraries on my tablet, even though it actually shows the most recent show I watched on the home tab.

For an added level of confusion; my tablet can access PlexAmp just fine even though it’s content exists on the same server

Am having the same issue on my Android phone and tablet.

Server version: 1.42.1.10060

Client version: 2025.24.0

Have no issues through the TV plex app, Windows client app, nor via a web browser. On my Samsung devices, I log in just fine, but the main view just shows “no content” after I removed my libraries from Favorites as they kept showing as offline which makes no sense.

Note that everything was working fine but I don’t know which client version broke things. I also already have my server set up as suggested above re GDM and IP auth.
