I have few android phones and a few tablets some amazon fire. All of the tablets and phones show the plex server as offline. If I log into the phone in chrome then I can see and play from the plex server no problem. This issue started with the latest update.
I have logged out of the server , logged out on the phones
I have uninstalled the app on the phones, reinstalled the app
I have cleared cache on phone then tried
I have rebooted phone
rebooted server
rebooted network
I have removed the devices from the ‘authorized’ list.
I renamed the server
This started when I played a video to stream and the player failed.
I updated plex to 1.20, this ended up with me having to uninstall and reinstall as the package installed, but my Server version stayed at 1.16. Ended up updating Android app to try and get connection in case something changed on the authentication side.
FINALLY found an option on the app to accept insecure connections, and when I changed it to “On the same network”, my connection was restored. The app is unable to see library files, despite rescans. I searched for the video that started this whole mess, and was able to find it AND play it.
Hopefully I can fix the rest of this when I have time to sort through the muck.
PS. Soooo… long story short I’m afraid to update in the future if this is going to happen.
