Libraries Button Gone - Android Plex App

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685 (Docker)
Player Version#: 2025.14.0
Device: OnePlus 9 (LE2113_14.0.0.730)
Android: 14 (Oxygen OS 14.0)

After my phone updated to the new App, the Libraries button is gone… So no local content over LAN is available.

Can’t find any setting to bring it back.

I don’t think I’ve seen this particular issue reported yet, or at least not exactly like this.

Have you tried the troubleshooting low-hanging fruit? Restart the server, restart the app?

Also, can you describe your local network topology? Is it flat (one address space) or is it segmented (into VLANs, for example)? If there are different VLANs and the phone and server aren’t on the same one, it might cause the connection to be considered “remote.”

Plex recently implemented a new policy that accessing a server remotely requires a Plex Pass (for the server owner or viewer) or a Remote Watch pass for the viewer. If the phone and server are on different networks it may be triggering this behavior and, as a result, the app isn’t showing your libraries.

Another potential option is that you only have music and/or photos libraries. If so, the app no longer supports those and therefore they won’t be shown.

If you’re on a VLAN’d network try connecting to the same network as the server with your phone. If you only have music/photos libraries, try adding a movie library (it can be empty). This is just to test for the network in particular, there may be a better solution, but let’s confirm that’s the issue before going down that road.

Thanks for replying.

I have tried:
a) Reboot server
b) Close App
c) Force-stop App
d) Reboot phone
e) Delete all Plex App-data on the phone (had to re-login to Plex App after this)

There are 2 vLAN’s configured on my network, but my phone and the server are on the same one (same /24 address range). I have an extra vLAN for guests, so that whomever connects will not be able to access our local resources.

I have a Video library added already.

Keep in mind that the setup was working perfectly before the App update, and the Web player is still working from any device - including the phone.

I have now also tried to downgrade to the old App version (for troubleshooting) and it still works just fine.

Upgrade to the new, and it breaks.

What network_mode is your docker container set to? If it is set to Host it will share the server ip address. If not, the container will self assign a 172.xx.xx.xx address that will be viewed as remote and could require a plex pass or remote pass.

--network=host \

PMS container shares the IP-address of the OS, and it is on the same IP-range as the phone.

The phone can access PMS via the web-browser.

Take a look at this thread and see if it’s relevant, something about special characters in phone name. No Libraries Found after update - #2 by kkh365

Phone Hostname is only using english characters (a-z) without spaces or anything else.

FirstnameLastname is my phone’s Hostname on the network.

Same problem on Player Version 2025.15.0

Same. Has there been a solution?

Still the same problem. Player version 2025.18.0 as of right now.

Would love to see a Plex employee involving themselves in this issue.

In the meantime, I have purchased PlexPass to see if that would make a difference. So far it seems like a waste of money

The last working version was 10.26.0.2578

There is no Plex server claimed by your plex.tv user account. There is also no Plex server shared with your plex account.
This means there are no libraries to show.

If you are certain that you have a Plex server running, verify that it is claimed by the same user account that you are using to sign into Plex on your phone.

Thanks for engaging Otto.

Yes, I’m certain I have a Plex server running, because it works perfectly when downgrading my phone app to v10.26.0.2578

You are correct, I have not claimed my Plex server.

Are you saying that users now need to claim their servers for the new Plex mobile app to work properly (to be able to load the libraries)? This has never been needed before, in the old mobile app.

Yes. This is the way from now on.

This explains a lot. Please update the documentation to reflect this change.

Is PlexPass required to be able to claim a server? (asking for others that might be reading this thread in the future)

No. What gives you the idea?

Big changes all around would be the main reason.

Like I said. Just asking so others who are finding this topic in the future don’t hva to go looking for the answer elsewere.

Thanks for replying Otto. And have a nice day.

While you were using the legacy app, did you

  1. add the server’s IP address to the app settings manually
  2. put the IP address of the phone (or the whole local network) into “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth”
  3. both 1) and 2)

?

  1. No, I have never added any IP-address in the Plex phone app, regardless of version.

  2. No. The server is out-of-the-box from the Docker-image. The only config I did on the server was to add the Libraries.

The legacy client on the phone just finds the server on it’s own.
