Android Client Not loading chapter and thumbnails consistently

I decided to create a new thread on this because i have no idea if it has received any traction in the 7.24 bug list thread.

Using the new player in this android client for whatever reason running pms from a pc where my storage is attached seems to work relatively consistently (most of the time, I have seen them not load randomly on movies where they loaded previously). However I have migrated to pms on the shield and only this client using the new player will not load chapters 90% of the time. I have no idea why there is a consistency difference in this client loading chapters when i run pms on pc vs the shield. However the new player does not load either of them (PMS on pc or the shield) 100% reliably.

If i switch to the old player in the android client chapters load fine (I can watch a movie in the new player, it wont have chapters, I can turn off the new player and chapter thumbnails appear fine), chapters load fine in the web browser for me, chapters load fine on ios (all pulling from pms on the shield). It is just this client and the new player not loading chapters consistently.

Just curious if there has been any progress on this, chapter thumbnails are still not loading reliably using the new player, loading fine with the old player however.

Would you be able to grab some logs after trying with the new player and I will take a look. Sadly I can’t replicate this and the chapters are always available for the videos they exist for - I’m guessing your using the same video in the new and old player?

I did post logs in the first post, I linked to the beta bug list where it has the “new” player logs I posted.

Are those logs not good?

Please let me know, chapters are working fine in the old player, ios, web browser, its just your new player giving me issues, and as mentioned for some reason chapter thumbnails load far more consistently on pms running on pc, compared to my shield, but neither loads them 100% of the time, although for whatever reason it loads it 80% of the time using pms on pc vs maybe 10% of the time using pms on the shield. Of course this is with your new player. Old player works fine everytime.

In my first post where i link to the logs i pointed out this line,

[FFmpeg] [INFO] Adding option: ignore_chapters 1

The link in my first post has quite a few details and the log with the new player if you could let me know if thats good enough.

Just wanted to follow up on this and hopefully sort it out, are the logs i linked to in the first post ok? Do you need new ones?

Digging through some of my time stamps on the old vs new player.

Old player seems to have 4 calls for chapters when i play a movie.

New player chapters only has these two entries in the log when i start a movie.

Around the 20:14 mark i quickly try to play a movie with the new player. Around 20:07 mark is the old player.

Anything on this?

Another user reported the issue, I provided logs… Literally this is the only player I have this issue. Not in chrome, not on ios, just in this app. If you need more let me know, just want to get this resolved.

Would be nice if we could get a reply or update, its clearly an issue, logs were asked for, logs were provided, and i tried to point out the differences in the logs i seen when using the old player (chapters work fine) and new player (chapters dont always load).

Not sure what more I can do, hopefully this gets looked into at some point. We have 3 people now reporting this problem.

Just keeping this alive, every other plex player chapters load fine, using the old android player on the shield chapters also load fine, using the new player especially on 4k loseless blu ray rips, they hardly ever load or show up.
