Android Player "overruns" TV episode and doesn't auto-play next episode

I have a recent problem with my Android TV boxes where when watching a TV series, once the episode is over, the player keeps “playing” a black screen, and the countdown time over-runs. The autoplay functionality has worked fine for a long time for me, so this is a recent error (less than a week). I have verified that both the server (Windows) and clients (TCL Android TV and AirTV Player) are up to date with no change in behavior.

I’ve had this problem with the android player on my phone for months (at least). I honestly can’t remember if it ever worked, I only started trying to use Plex on my phone fairly recently.

Seems like this or a similar problem goes back years though. Just one more basic bug they seem to be in no hurry to fix.

Have experienced this issue numerous times recently using the Plex app on the Nvidia Shield.

I have been experiencing this error on my Amazon Fire TV Stick, as well. It started about the 18th of February for me. It could have been longer, as only recently have I had more than one episode to watch per show. What has not been working for about week, is playing another show from the “Play Next” play queue. It just shows a blank screen. When I press play, it switches to pause and when I press play, play again, still nothing.

This has been happening on my Fire Stick interface as well. No problem in the full browser version, so this seems to be resident in the apps only.

For what it’s worth, a few weeks ago the problem seems to have been fixed. So I at least don’t have the issue anymore.
