Had exactly the same issue on Android app streaming from win10 server. Downgrading app solved the issue.

I’ve been struggling with this one for a while, I have pretty shyt internet, therefore I need it to change when required, I used to be able to set a lower rate and that would fix it but when I do that now it just kicks me out of the show, so I definitely need it fixed.
In the meantime I have a firestick 4k, can some one please explain to me how to roll the version back, tried in the app, in the App Store and in the manage app section of the firestick. I obviously have no idea.
I’m on version 8.28.0.30077 if that maters.

2)enable unkown origin installation under my firestick section
3)use downloader app built in on firestick and go to this site

4)if download doesn’t start automatically, click HERE in the left upper corner of the page - install this new apk
- login again and retry watch your collection
Feb 25th, just installed update last night on two Fire Sticks, and they have the 2X speed problem when FFed, or Skip Introed. They never start a video if subtitles are enabled.
bumping Literally when are they going to fix the bug it’s been such a long time, no disrespect intended. this is just quite a long time for this issue to be here. I want my damn playlist covers lmao
Same issue here, still. I will try downgrading to get it to work. For me (Nvidia Shield for playback) it works fine if I start from the beginning. But if I FF or Skip Intro, it goes into superspeed. If I go to playback settings and change from convert automatically to play original quality… it ends the episode and tries to play the next episode. Very frustrating.
Playback speed issue still here on latest Apr 1 update on Android. How long does it take them to fix this issue? It’s so prevalent.
We need to start spamming the forum with this issue this is absurd.
I have the same issue on a new chromecast (white one with remote). Things start playing fine but usually when I fast forward it goes to double speed.
The fix which works 100% of the time for me has been to change the video quality to a set bitrate instead of automatic.
Please fix though!
Update: Tonight I went into settings and disabled automatic quality, so far so good.

My daughter could not watch anything on her Samsung tablet… I had to downgrade so she could watch a movie…
(Auto-updated to version Plex for Android 9.0.5).
The problem I have with disabling the “Automatically adjust quality” setting in app is that there are certain video formats that just do not play at all with that disabled. It’ll pop up a message that says “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.”
Tried three different video files last night on my Nvidia Shield (1 .mpg, two .mkv), all three appeared to be running at 3X speed. Re-started Plex several times, I finally gave up. I’m getting so sick and tired of dealing with intermittent problems with this program. They keep adding new features and ignore the basic problems. Plex is recognizing fewer and fewer .mkv files.
but just downgrade client app and all is fine. and wait for a complete fix
Not sure how to do that on my Shield. I tried it the other night and it took me to a version of the app that was very basic. I went into Google Play and had the option to update it to the most recent version again, but no way to downgrade to the previous version.

it worked as expected? everything is fine?
remember to block auto update of app inside shield’s play store
an advice. keep a copy of working apk version inside download folder. so you can downgrade easily
