Android Plex Doesn't Load Movies if in a Collection

I don’t understand… what is this fix for? It is known that there are issues with movies that are inside a collection.

So of course removing them from a collection should fix that problem.

???

It’s a non-sensical post and not a fix.

“Deleting all collections will fix items not loading in collections”

Oh really, you don’t say?

Can it be real?!

The latest update fixed it. Or am I dreaming?

Got excited for a minute but alas, it is still not working. I believe it’s the same as before; if the item is in a “smart” collection it loads fine but if it’s in a manual collection it does not. Or, if the item is in both a smart collection AND a manual one it does not load.

Did you confirm it was the latest 2026.5 release?

Due to the phased rollout when I tried last night it was still 2026.4

Yes, 2026.5.0 (971050077)

I have this same problem on my Samsung Tab S7+ (Android), since it is not my main viewing platform I have allowed the problem to drag on. Seeing no no real ansers from Plex and being a pragmatist, I have now installed Plezy for Plex (a Plex client app). On first use it appears to be great, it loads collections with no problems and will play films in collections. My iPhone 13 has problems with loading collections, just very slow and no ‘oops‘.
This is a work-around and not a fix. If a third-party can do this then it needs prioritising at Plex.

What version are you on?

I’m looking forward to the day that this is fixed so I can enable auto collections again. I had to delete all manual/static collections, which would mean disabling auto collections.

Well, you can either have a broken Plex on Android, or you can do this “fix”. Those are really the only options you have. You can keep complaining about it, but this has been going on for a year now, ever since the New Plex Experience apps were released last year. So I guess the third option is waiting until it’s fixed, lol. I chose to do the “fix”.

Started noticing it on 2026.4.1 and now on 2026.5.0.

When tapping on a movie poster, most times I will see the details for a split second and then they disappear for a few seconds and finally reappear.

After this, if I go back and come back into the details, it shows up quickly.

Another thing is that this doesn’t happen on a remote server shared with me, but only my own local server.

I don’t see any problems using my Rokus.

It also isn’t every movie, but I don’t see a pattern. However, it is most movies.

I’ve tried see the same problem on three separate phones.

Actually, now with 2026.5.0, I do see it with the remote shared server too, but it doesn’t delay as long.

Here is a video of what I am seeing:

Screen-20260402-141830.zip (475.9 KB)

Based on your video, I assume that the hub you’re selecting a title from is a collection?

Yes, that is correct. It does the same thing when selecting a movie from the Library Browse view as well.

Sounds like it’s similar to what is reported here Android Plex Doesn't Load Movies if in a Collection, though most of the cases there state that they cannot access the details page at all.

Could you please reproduce the issue with a couple titles then grab your Mobile App Logs and share them with me?

I see this all the time now. Started happening about 3-4 beta builds ago. Before that didn’t happen.

I’ve my nas drives set to sleep when they are not in use and I suspect this is a cause.

What it looks like is that the client requests the page, it displays for a micro second and then the page goes blank as the drive the media is on is woken up. I’m guessing the client ties to refresh some data, maybe local assets or subs.

Once it’s awake the client displays okay and accessing other media from the client appears right away.

My drives don’t sleep.

Sure, I probably wasn’t being specific enough  I use the drive sleep which is why I think I see so it easily but I still suspect its the client doing a refresh after its initial micro second load and its waiting to get that page refreshed which is why its blank until its loaded again.

Total speculation but that what it looks like to me.

Logs sent.

Seeing a lot of “Failed to flush events: TypeError: Network request failed:”

The 3rd option is just to use the last release before New Experience where everything works and set the Plex app to not auto-update in Android.

“I have a sore wrist, so I cut off my arm, but my wrist isn’t sore anymore!”

So no, deleting all collections isn’t a fix…. just use a previous app until this is fixed. Or cough up $5 for Plezy, where this isn’t an issue, as someone pointed out above.

that’s not a real fix either, lol. That’s just a workaround, just like deleting collections.

neither is this, if we’re going by your terms of what a “fix” is.

In essence, your term of what a “fix” is something that is an "acceptable” solution. Neither of those solutions is acceptable to me. But neither is deleting collections acceptable to you. So either all of them are “fixes” or none of them are.
