Android TV:. Some minor bugs with new person credits

Server Version#: 1.29.2.6364
Player Version#: 9.11.0.36101

Love the new addition of a full credits and library linking for people in the Android TV interface. Just a few visual bugs I noticed.

  1. When viewing details for a person the Media Libraries and Movies and Shows on Plex sections overlap.
  2. Clicking an item in the filmography takes you to the details for that media item. Clicking back on the remote brings you back to the filmography but the background image from the media details is still visible.
  3. The five star rating option is available on the person details screen but trying to pick a star value and save it gives “an error has occurred” message.

Thanks for your feedback. Your first point is fixed in the current Android beta, and we’ll look into the other two.

Thanks. Also noticed the Plex web interface has a “known for” section on the people details screen and the Android Beta clients (mobile and TV) don’t.

That will be coming to other clients soon :slightly_smiling_face:

I notice severe issues with the new feature, where media from my libraries don’t show at all for a lot lf artists, but working fine on others.

Just wanted to note that point 1 (overlapping text) still happening on beta 9.11.0.36242

I think I found the reason for that.
When showing the artist page Plex tries to load the movies and series from my library and spins up some of my media drives. Search eventually times out and shows no movies or only a few from my library.

Why on earth Plex is spinning up my MEDIA drives, when looking for the cast of my movies, when the whole DATABASE (containing that info) is on a different (SSD) drive?
This is nonsense, because a) it will result in spinning up far more media drives and more often than necessary and b) will result in the described timeout issue.
How can I prevent that?

FYI… I came to the same conclusion as you on another thread Watchlist update and Credits - #104 by dokuro

The fact that this new discover credits page is also fetched from their cloud and not your local plex server is likely to not help with client side performance, resulting in the timeouts and partially loading pages. That’s what I’ve noticed over the past few days anyhow especially when my NAS drives are in standby …
