Annoyances I can't find an answer to....

I love the user switching and Plex Home features…on paper. I’m having a couple issues though and I can’t find an answer to these:

First, how do I change the timeout settings when logged in? Of course it doesn’t log out while watching a movie but if I pause it or even sit on the home screen it will self-lock after just a few minutes. It’s mind-numbingly annoying. I would like to make it NOT log out at all until I do, or at least be able to increase the time setting setting to AT LEAST 30 minutes.

Second, I was listening to music yesterday and all played well. However, I noticed unlike playing a movie, when playing music, again, it times out while playing. What??? I have to reenter my PIN to even skip to the next song or pause playback. Not cool at all…

I want the PIN feature, but do NOT want it to time out all the time.

Can these things be changed?

Thanks!

What client are you using?

That is odd. This must be a client thing. I know on my Roku3 i can pause for days(yes days) and it doesn’t lock me out. All I have to do is push a button on the remote and it cancels the “screen saver” and it’s paused right where I left it.

I am using multiple clients.

It does NOT time out using PMP or the web interface.

It DOES time out using my LG client, any Amazon Firestick and FireTV that I own which is several as well as my RokuTV. I have a Roku stick as well that I haven’t tested, but even one is enough.

it’s annoying!

It may be a client thing, but it’s hopelessly annoying. I wish there were an employee that can weigh in here at least to acknowledge the issue…

The PIN will come up if the screen saver kicks in. It’s a security feature incase a parent forgets to log out and then their kid comes by to use the same client. If you don’t want to have to enter your PIN, enable the option to automatically log in. Then the PIN enter will only be required when changing users. It will be up to you to make sure to log into another user if you don’t want others to have access to your admin account.

Thanks. I changed this setting. I have my fingers crossed!

Ultimately I think a better solution though is to disconnect logging out from the screensaver and make the timing adjustable. There are times I am listening to music and it goes into screensaver mode, which is fine. If I then ask my son to go to the next song for me though he can’t do that for me without my PIN defeating the purpose of a PIN.

To me, “screen saver” and auto-timeout are not the same thing.
