Another Plex for Windows Update and

Another Plex for Windows Update and still the stuff we are asking for isn’t fixed while random mumboo jumbo is given instead. Can someone explain to me why the major stuff is always ignored to work on stuff no one has asked for or heard of???

PMP has seen more updates than the supposed flagship windows app. And cpu usage when idle is still high, I don’t think anything has changed with sync and it’s still not very usable on a touch screen. Plus it’s a pain to keep it updated manually given they’re not interested in publishing it to the store.

I was actually talking about Plex for Windows, not PMP. You can’t keep the damn thing in full screen mode…it’s impossible. The whole app is slow and not very responsive. It is hit or miss on it marking episodes watched. I could go on and on. Everyone mentions these things and they keep coming out with updates for things no one has is worried about.

I know you are, but my point is that for an app that a while ago plex said they wouldn’t support anymore, PMP has seen more updates than their supposed flagship windows application.

Ahhhh…smell ya now.

It is still actually supported, they rolled back that announcement after the community stood up against this decision (for good reason).

Quoted from the post:
" EDIT: So, this next section used to talk about how we were ending support for Plex Media Player in six months, and with it, effectively ending support for HTPCs as a platform. We planned this with the best intentions. tl;dr, modern streaming devices provide a better experience for most people (the vast majority of you have already switched), and not spending energy maintaining PMP would mean we can focus more on making that experience better for everyone. Well, let’s just say that although their numbers are few, the PMP army speaks loudly, in mostly civilized voices, with the occasional conspiracy theory peppered in. So, we hear you, and we’re adjusting our plans a bit:

  • We will keep PMP in TV mode working as it is today and will fix serious issues which impact the product for the foreseeable future.
  • We will continue to invest in our player technology on streaming devices both to increase media compatibility, as well as to bring more “HTPC” features there (e.g. video zoom modes). We will also do a better job at communicating their capabilities, as it’s pretty hard to get an accurate picture of that. Look for more information on that soon!
  • We are now actively investigating the best way to continue supporting HTPCs as a platform.

Thanks for all your feedback, and for being awesome! Now on to the pithy conclusion of this blog post…"

Yeah, but as he pointed out, the new Plex for Windows was suppose to be the fore-front premier app for the platform. It is getting crap for support and runs awful. And again…the updates continuously ignore the major issues with the app.

That’s valid, I just wanted to point out that the other app was still technically supported.
