Another Server is Gone after password reset

Server Version#:1.28.1.6104-7000
Player Version#:

I’m sorry that I’m a complete noob, but I, like so many others, lost Plex after the Great Password Reset. I’ve tried to follow the numerous other threads to resolve my issue but cannot and need help. If I click on the URL link in PMS, it takes me to a login screen that says: “This application is at “mydnsname” and is not hosted by Plex. Continue only if you recognize this server and wish to grant access.” When I click through and login, there is no server to be found, just the generic Home, LiveTV, etc. icons on the left bar and a “+ Your Media” button at the bottom that simply takes me to the download page of the DSM. I’m happy to include logs, but I don’t really know which to export from the logs folder.

Not a major problem, Provided the server is with you on your LAN.

  1. Uninstall the Plex app – use the “Uninstall only - KEEP” radio button (default)

  2. Sign out of Plex/web

  3. Close all the browser windows. (easier than restarting everthing)

  4. Open a new browser

  5. Open the Syno by IP address :5000 (normal)

  6. Install the Plex app (Manual Install)
    – Plex Claim Token radio button
    – Click “Get Plex Claim Token” hyperlink
    – New tab opens to Plex.tv
    – COPY the new Claim Token
    – Return to the installation tab
    – PASTE the token in the box on the form (looks like this)

  • Click NEXT - DONE.

It will start installing.

It will take a little longer than normal because it’s getting fresh credentials from Plex.tv and installing them in the server.

  1. Installation and claim is confirmed with Claimed by: "YourPlexname"

  2. Now open the Syno by IP address this ONE time.

  3. Sign in and let the browser and PMS resync

10… Everything should now be there as it was

Thank you so much, ChuckPa, it worked!! I really appreciate your help!
