Any thoughts on resolving The Hives coming up under Cyndi Lauper here?

I’ve checked as much as I can think of to confirm the meta data for this band is correct. The Hives still keep showing up under Cyndi Lauper. I’ve used refresh metadata, fix match, unmatch, I’ve deleted the folder and added it back. I’ve tried to edit the Artist name in Plex web. The only thing left I can think of is restarting the server.

OK… I found one song with “The Hives and Cyndi Lauper” for Artist and “Cyndi Lauper” as Album Artist. So, I should be able to fix this by changing Album Artist to “The Hives and Cyndi Lauper” (or just “Cyndi Lauper”)?

An Album can only have one Album Artist, so make sure that the Album Artist is identical in all tracks of this album.
Album Artist must be the same in all albums which are stored inside a common “Artist” folder.
If you decide to change the Album Artist of an album, you need to take it out of its current folder and put it into a new one which conforms with the Album Artist meta tag.

         02 - Track Artist - Track Title.mp3

No expections from this folder structure.
It applies to samplers and compilations as well!

I’ve change the Artist and Album Artist to be “The Hives and Cyndi Lauper” and reorganized the folders

   /The Hives and Cyndi Lauper
      /Christmas Duel
         01 - Christmas Duel

This album has now shown up as a newly added album.

Previously, this track was in the root of Cyndi Lauper. I have plenty of tracks were the Artist and Album Artist are not the same. So I have to assume that this improper organization, more so than the meta data, was the cause.

However, after reorganizing and performing a Library Scan, all the albums by The Hives were still showing as Cyndi Lauper. I then deleted The Hives folder from my server and performed a Library Scan. At that point, all the Cyndi Lauper albums were relabeled The Hives, reversing the original issue.

I added The Hives back and performed another Library Scan. The Hives remained The Hives but there was no change to Cyndi Lauper (still showing as The Hives). In this case though, Fix Match seems to have renamed the Cyndi Lauper albums appropriately.
