No metadata from TVDB and MovieDB

Server Version#: 1.16.3.1402
Player Version#: 3.104.2

Since a few days ago newly added TV episodes or movie will not get any metadata added to them. I have disable IPv6 in the server settings but that hans’t helped. The episodes appear to be matched (the names are added correctly) but nothing else.

Same here. I tried rolling back to 1.15.8.1198 and that didn’t help.

same issue here, and have been fighting it for the last 2 weeks.

I’m having a similar issue: Migrated server, now unable to match media

Strange, i haven’t changed a thing on my end so i would have to assume an update has broken it.

@ChuckPa is there any known issues with TVDB and Plex?

Same issue here. Plex is becoming about as unstable as a stack of rocks.

I think that there’s an issue going on with the TVDB’s servers or databases. I tried doing a match on something, and it just sat and spun. And when I went to the TVDB to check on the series to make sure it was named properly, I got a 502 error when searching. And after refreshing the page, it took like 5 minutes for the TVDB search to turn up results. Then when I went back to Plex, it had finally matched. So I’m thinking this may be on TVDB’s end.

I just added 2 new episodes to a new season and it worked fine.
everything is like it should be.

Looks like its an issue on TVDB side

Was having this issue with Movies posters not showing up, I went into Settings/Agents/Movies/The Movie Database and then clicked on the setting gear on “the movie database” and added a tick to “Use collection info from The Movie Database” and rescanned the movie folder and every poster came up.

all my movie posters show up. I think that is from different Agent (the movie database) and not theTVdb

My issue is with the TV shows.

I’m having the same issue with just the TV Show not working. The problem appears to be on TheTVDB’s end. If I go to https://www.thetvdb.com/ the page comes up but trying to actually search for a series ends up resulting in a 522 (Connection timed out).

Something is wrong with the TVDB agent. I rebuilt my server last night no TV show artwork will download, some shows get metadata but no pictures and some nothing at all.

I spun up a server on my local PC and added the TV show library and got the exact same results only a few shows get any artwork or metadata exact same way.

Digging into the TVDB forums shows they are having some issues going on

Was just about to post the link to that forum post. Looks like their servers are still recovering from the rollback and rebuilding their caches so it should resolve itself once that finishes.

I have been tracking TheTVDB progress throughout their migration & reload into the V3 api.
It is working as it should except for missing data on their end.

I have, thus far, created 4 instances of my TV library. Each iteration populates more.
We need wait this one out as we’ve now demonstrated it’s all on their end.

Thanks for clarifying. I just tried the Plex Dance and still not matching a thing on my new content. Would a simple Refresh Metadata be sufficient to trigger download when TVDB issues are resolved?

Yes. “Refresh All Metadata” tomorrow some time.

Having similar issue,

Just moved my files to a newly installed server and none of the files from TVDB are showing up correctly. The Metadata seems to be working but the Posters, Banners, and Background images are not showing up.

Example of metadata information flowing but not images.

  • Not receiving Metadata from theTVDB
  • Not receiving Posters, Banners, or Backgrounds from theTVDB
  • No data from theTVDB
