App & Chromecast (with Google TV) crash trying to play next video

Player Version#:8.16.0.24423

If I choose to play an episode of a show (MKV HEVC) it plays well. If I choose to play the next episode it will be displayed zoomed in and eventually the player app crashes and takes the device with it.
