App crashing when trying to access libraries

@LisaTX @rcwynn devs are currently working on a fix that should allow you to not have to update server but to get it to you quickly we are going to be putting in the Preview channel so we don’t have to wait for Roku approval.

I’ll post here when that is available hopefully later today

Weirdly, this feels like how Microsoft is telling everyone they MUST update to Windows 11 at the same time they’re telling people who have older PCs that they can’t run it. I’m caught in that dilemma now & I’m a senior citizen who can’t afford to upgrade!

(yes, I know, this is derailing but I just feeling like the tech world, in which I’ve been involved since the 80s, hates me now)

A post was split to a new topic: Updated the Roku app and I completely lost access to my home server

thank you! Just stopped in for a minute now - feel free to DM me so I don’t miss the notice!!

I have a similar experience as everyone else here. After the update for plex on my Roku device, I cannot access my servers. When I go to the “libraries” tab, the app crashes. I have tried many different suggestions. I’ve see posts on the internet that suggest “corrupt” library files, and to basically shut down my entire network and all devices and try again. No Luck. I’ve looked at permissions … no luck, so far. It appears obvious to me that their “patch” broke something.

I can access my server through the “search” button. If I search for a movie/show on my server, I can access the content. This leads me to believe it is NOT a permissions thing, because I can access my server, just not through the library tab. I’m glad I found this post and hope the release a resolution soon.

Mine does that too, where you can see the libraries briefly before the app crashes. I noticed a hour or so ago that there is a build 5. It has the same issue.

@LisaTX @rcwynn and anyone else that is having the crashing bug when you try to access libraries.

This is a build from the Preview channel ( essentially the beta) that has the fix if you are running an old version of server and some other fixes.

Plex for Roku - #469 by ljunkie There is a link in the last post that takes you to Rokus website to add the channel. More specific instructions on how to install the preview can be found here Roku Previews (Beta)

Confirmed that this 8.6.6 version (preview) does solve the problem of crashing when trying to view libraries. I am out of town for the next week so I will not be able to fully test everything and provide feedback until next weekend. Thanks for fixing this.

A post was split to a new topic: Server showign as unavailable in apps

lol, I am playing catch-up right now with this post. Been away for a few days. If you hit the * button on the Plex icon in your Roku menu, it will display the version. Sorry if someone already responded to this. Wanted to catch it while it was fresh in my memory.

After getting to browse my libraries with the preview fix I, like others, am thoroughly displeased with the new UI. It just plain SUCKS!

This was a VERY poor decision on the part of Plex! Going to give Jellyfin a try.
