Plex needs to suck it up and revert the UI and apps.. its obvious the users hate it.. and its only going to get worse.
also a proper statement to us users would be nice to acknowledge we actually exist and are being heard.

Give us back the old Plex app under a âPlex Classicâ title as a separate app if Plex is unwilling to revert the current botched app.
This way those of us that hate the new app (At least 99.99999% of us) can go back to the old app.
And the (00.00001%) of us that âmightâ like the new app can still use it.
The video Lisa shared is exactly what mine is doing! It does this on both of my Roku Ultras, and my Roku soundbar.
The feedback on the testing posts is just as bad.
So far, nobody likes the new UI. Itâs rare to see something so universally hated. I mean, even some people like Balut (fermented baby duck) - but nobody likes the new Plex-Roku UI.
If making the worst UI update decisions in history was your goal - bravo, mission accomplished!
What is happening to @LisaTX is even worse than I thought. At least my Plex is allowing me to navigate the app and only locks up when I click that stupid new icon for each show before the first episode or the Search option.
What Lisa is experiencing is a total crash of the app when trying to click libraries which makes the entire app completely unusable. This is completely unacceptable. Plex needs to put out a statement they are working to fix (or better yet revert to previous app version) these issues.
This was such an amateurish programming job that wasnât properly tested and everyone at Plex involved in this should be ashamed and never hired for this type of software work again.
@richeyweb not liking the UI and bug reports are two different things.
@LisaTX Can you grab a screenshot of your âComedy & Quizâ from the Plex Web app https://app.plex.tv
Also which version number of Plex Media Server are you running?
Just something like this which includes the pivots at the top (recommended, Library ,collectionsâŠ)
There shouldnât be bugs like this in a brand new update if it were properly tested before being FORCED onto all of us.
My media server is WOEFULLY out of date. I havenât been able to get into it to update since my husband died. I really need to just set up a new one but Iâve been overwhelmed.
However, until the latest update, everything kept humming along fine. I donât share outside of my home network.
The app.plex.tv link shows below. Nothing is connecting.
If looks like @rcwynn you are also running pretty old version of the server. Can you confirm the version number.
Are other folks @here that are also experiencing the crashing issue when moving across libraries also running an old server version?
I have to head out for a while not - will check back later here
I am running on an older version. Which has not issues whatsoever until this update. I also do not share outside and use this only for my own personal audio/video collection.
I am running 1.18.5.2309. I have tried to update to a 1.42 and 1.31 but cannot due to the fact that I am running it on a Windows 7 machine. This machines sole purpose is for serving up Plex content. It does not get used for anything else and I never browse the internet on it.
I am happy to upgrade to a newer media center version if that solves the problem. Just tell me which is the latest version that can be run on Windows 7 and Iâll do it.
OK I was able to bring my libraries out via my local Plex WEb (you know, the one on http://192.168.1.105:32400/ ) That finds it fine. I pixelated stuff because..yes.
This is true, however this UI has been basically universally hated since its inception and yet Plex refuses to back down and admit they made a mistake.
It has been said that elderly people and people with disabilities have said they are having difficulty with it. Still no willingness to change from Plex.
You guys really need to rethink your approach to customers because this is just crazy.
We are not 100% that is the problem with the crashing. Iâm hoping others here can confirm their server version as well.
But updating from such an old version is unfortunately has itâs own issue due to how much the database has changed since then. Iâm trying to find out if there is a way to update from something so old so you donât have to recreate server from scratch.
Thatâd be me. Itâs really not user friendly if you have tremors.
Iâm not going to argue tastes. And to be clear I consider this particular topic to be about the bug reported regarding the app crash when navigating to libraries. Iâm not going to reply anymore in this topic to other comments about other things like the UI in general.
Thatâs a pathetic response. You are basically saying you will only reply to bugs but ignore everything else people hate about the update because you donât agree with them. Seems like a typical arrogant response. âThis is our new app, you will accept it and we will not change anything about it whether you like it or notâ Good way to drive away users.
You guys screwed up big time. Just be big enough to admit it.
no what I said is that I am not going to reply about other thing in this particular topic. why because it dilutes getting info to pass along to devs to resolve this crahsing issue. You are more than welcome to post in any of the other existing topics already about the thigns you want to discuss. The only thing you are accomplishing by bringing up other things in this topic is delaying trying to get this particular issue fixed.
@BigWheel not trying to be negative and I appreciate the app and all you guys are doing, I find it strange that a step has been added to access my own libraries. Previously they were lined up in the menu, now being in their own menu we have to go to that menu, then to the library. Im curious about the decision process that went into adding more steps as an upgrade?
Fair points. But the best way to accomplish fixing all of these issues is revert back to the previous app that worked and everyone liked. Or bring it back as a Plex Classic option so Plex can keep this terrible new app they love so much. But you guys wonât do that will you?
