Hey has anyone else experienced an issue where, while watching something on the Plex app your iPhone and putting the phone down for a min, when you go to resume playback the Plex UI is frozen and after 10-20 secs the app will crash? This happened to me while watching Plex at a friend’s house last week and I didn’t think much of it. But it started to happen to me at home on my own Plex server yesterday. I am on the most recent Plex server for Mac OS and the most recent Plex iOS app. The crash is very reproducible and has happened several times today.
Yes, experiencing the same crashing. It’s very repeatable, crashes any time you switch out of the app and come back while playing video. Entire app freezes and a force quit is required. Occurred both on my old iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 14.8 and my brand new iPhone 13 Pro running a completely clean install of iOS 15.

I also have this crashing. It happens constantly. It can happen even when I haven’t started the app, but it’s hanging out in the background. It’s just constantly crashing. It happens on both the non beta version and the plex ios beta version (from testflight).
Hi, I have the same thing with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. It takes up to 10 seconds before I can use my phone again because the apps freezes everything.
Only force killing the app (after freeze) and starting it again makes it possible to resume a video.
Interestingly I just found out this behavior does not happen when I enable the ‘use old videoplayer’ option in Plex app > Settings > Advanced > use old videoplayer.
When swiping away the Plex app it goes into Picture in Picture mode. When receiving a call the video resumes after the call. No freezes with the old video player.
Looks like an issue with the new video player?
