App.plex.tv is unable to connect to “XXXXXX” securely

Server: QNAP TS-877 latest firmware version 4.5.4.1723

Getting a similar issue to others with the error:
“app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “” securely
Its “Secure connections” setting may be set to disabled, or you may need to adjust some settings on your network. You can learn more about secure connections here.”

Does anyone know the root cause and is it being actively fixed?

I can connect on the same LAN but not OUTSIDE my network at all.

Sorry - It has not yet been restored ChuckPa. There are many of us that cannot connect externally at all. There are other problems reported in this forum for the same thing noting it has not been solved. Cannot get access externally at all even after router reboots, server reboots, disconnects and connects with plex.tv, etc. It doesn’t work. Nothing else has changed since this morning when it worked just fine on my end. Only this problem coming up with no solution yet for many of us.

On all QNAP QTS / QuTS systems.

1. Stop Plex
2. Create a shared folder named PlexData anywhere you want it
3. Start Plex
4. Let it run a minute and try again
5. Stop Plex
6. File Station → Plex Data → Plex Media Server
7. Right-click Logs → Compress (Logs.zip)
8. Download and attach here.

(this is why I created the PlexData shared folder feature. Get logs when it doesn’t run without need to dig in the ssh shell)

Incidentally, I have two servers. Both external connections went down with today’s problem and neither works now for external access. Both, however, work just fine using LAN app access. One is a QNAP X72XT, the other is a WD PR4100.

Either this is because codes are missing or the file itself is invalid.

The logs are full of streaming errors and the rest of the logs contain mostly home automation devices on your LAN.

Please do the following

1. Restart PMS
2. Recreate the connect error
3. Wait 2 minutes
4. Stop Plex
5. Manually create then download and attach the server logs again.

ChuckPa, when I created the PlexData share and restarted plex to generate the logs, did plex also move my full database to that new share? The reason I ask is because when you wanted me to do it a second time and after stopping plex I deleted all the content in the new share so you would get only the new trial. I then restarted plex. I tried to connect via web with no success. I saw that the logs noted the database had changed. Do I need to somehow recover the database, or was that location only for obtaining logs and the rest of the metadata are intact elsewhere? Thanks. I’ll get the rerun logs as soon as I can be sure this whole mess hasn’t ended up being worse now that I’m trying to get logs when I can’t actually connect to the server otherwise.
