Apple iOS .mov Thumbnail & Video Playback Problems

Ongoing Apple .mov 1080p home video files and “live” photo issues:

  1. High % of vertical image files have horizontal thumb nails.
  2. Several files playback as an expanded (enlarged/stretched) video.
  3. Native iOS .MOV files are moved to Win 11 via Photos app then copied to WD MyCloud NAS.
  4. PLEX and Server is Win 10 always with latest updates.
  5. All 1080p files.
  6. Same viewing issues on iOS, ROKU and all Win 11 browsers.
  7. Can convert .MOV videos to .MP4 with MS ChimpChamp files that play correctly and Thumbnails are correctly oriented.
  8. iPhone with iOS is my only video/photo collection tool.

Addendum:
I also add that the Apple recommended method of USB transferring photo/vid files between iOS/iPhone and Win 11 is Win 11 Photos. Simple editing of photos/videos can be done with in Photos that has corrected PLEX scanning incompatibilities for playback. Have not found any correct Thumbnail orientation fixes.

BTW, try going on a 3 week vacation to get home and find the need for “fixing” your photos/vids just so they can work well in PLEX.

I have yet to find PLEX compatibility recommendations for iPhone Settings/Camera/Formats & Record Video. Have been using “1080p at 60 fps” for videos and “Most Compatible” for photos.
