Apple TV 4K audio sync issues with enhanced player

It’s quite frustrating. Feels like this should be an all hands on deck issue, really. Since playing media is supposed to be their bread and butter.

No words… i’ve just got a apple tv and since some months passed from kodi to plex with annual pass…
for your opinion, will they solve this issue in a short time?!

Maybe i’ve solved connecting the apple tv to TV directly (before it connected to AVR) and switching off the match frame rate… it’s not a correct wiring but…

Ps sorry for my bad english

Apparently Apple broke some APIs in tvOS 16.1, so I’m hoping either there’s an update from Plex soon, or 16.2 will fix it in a few weeks ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Unfortunately 16.2 not solve, i tried to update with beta…

Issue has nothing to do with tvOS 16 as it’s been almost 3 years of this being ignored.

Wow… i’m in time to return the apple tv … do you suggest me to use my previous player Nvidia Shield??

They could be referring to the generic audio delay introduced in tvOS 16. Like someone mentioned earlier:

I tried to find a solution by Infuse but the interface is terrible!!
It would be perfect if we could be set an external player in Plex interface as Kodi.

I also tried Infuse for DV content that current version of Plex on AppleTV has difficulty playing. Boy it’s not good. And DV content is too bright ie black levels are washed out compared to HDR version of the file. Plex really messed something up with the current version, I hope they fix it quickly. Infuse is not the answer.

I’m in agreement with you. We paied annual pass and this issue is a big big problem. It’s not correct!
Is there a contact for ufficial claim?!

There’s dv thread already that’s a year and a half old. No real progress there either.

Plex sure has ■■■■ the bed with modern media files considering its main purpose is being a media consumption tool. 2/3 years for issues like this is inexcusable but here here’s more free iptv crap which no annual or lifetime pass buyer asked for.

So, my solution is the only way possible! I return to my nvidia shield tv (with other issue but better than this one)
No words!!!

Add another frustrated user with the same issues. I’ve just lurked until now but every time I try to play 4K UHD content it seems the performance of the plex app on the AppleTV gets worse. Skipping video, delayed audio, it’s gotten to be completely unwatchable.

I just downloaded Infuse to try it out and the very first 4K UHD movie I played worked flawlessly. It’s obvious that my AppleTV settings, server settings, network, etc are all fine. The issue is 100% the plex app. I’m sad that after supporting plex all this time that I have to pay for another app in order to play my content reliably.

Add another one to the list. Happening on my Apple TV HD. Never had this issue before, and it just started a couple weeks ago. What a pain.

I used the VLC app on my Apple TV to connect to plex and wouldn’t you know it…. Audio sync issue is gone. I’ll just keep using VLC.

But then wouldn’t it impact all media players? Why just plex? I fired up the vlc app on my Apple TV and played content that had the issue in plex. No audio sync issues in VLC.

It is my understanding that Apple makes available various APIs for audio and video streaming, so VLC may be using a combination that does not result in sync errors. Plex and Infuse are using APIs that do result in that unfortunately, but Infuse got off the couch and did something about it pretty fast.

got it. thanks. Hopefully Plex devs get on this.

That annoys me the most is the Plex developers’ silence. At least a message, a preview about a new release that solving this issue! Plex is a media player manager but if we have to use an external player to watch our media file… very bad.

Anything to share yet?

Nothing further at the moment, but we’re still actively investigating
