Apple TV's Missing Library Reload Button

I love the layout and feature set of the new update, but we need a refresh button to manage the problems outlined above. Just put it next to the play, shuffle, and layout buttons. Hell, replace any one of those buttons.

I had a bit of revelation after using the iOS app. While the iOS app does a pretty good job of updating libraries by itself, you can still pull down on the screen and force a reload.

Unfortunately, with the AppleTV app, there is no such functionality, That is the ultimate oversight here. They killed the reload button and brought in the iOS interface, but it doesn’t include the reload function built in to the iOS interface because scrolling is inherently different on AppleTV.

I really wish a developer would respond here because it continues to feel like these complaints are being ignored. I’m really disappointed because the devs used to be incredibly responsive to things like this. The AppleTV app used to be the best Plex interface. Now I’m using my AppleTV as an expensive Chromecast in my living room. Luckily I was able to prevent the upgrade in my bedroom.

Developers are looking at the issue on the Library screen. If there are other screens that are not being updated as they should, please let me know and I’ll be happy to pass it along.

Thank you. I really appreciate it. That’s truly all I was looking for.

Any feedback from devs? This should be priority #1.

I don’t want to let this thread die. This issue has ruined the Apple TV app for me. I REALLY want this to be fixed. I’m tired of using my AppleTV as a Chromecast as I choose what to watch from my phone.

I totally agree. Thank you for keeping it going. The Plex Apple TV app used to be the best way to watch and missing such a simple button has ruined it.

Totally agree. I used to tell everyone that the Apple TV interface was the best Plex interface out (and I have used them all). Now I’m looking at going back to my Roku.

Button or natural refresh feature on view switching, the app is simply unreliable to show you the latest added content since the update.

All my shows are added automatically and I like to get inspire by what’s just got added when I open my TV.

Sidenote: new library added don’t display automatically when added. You need to go and PIN them if you remember where to go. So if I add new content into a Library, no one will ever notice. You think grandma (my #1 user) will think of checking for new additions or even know what to look for? Sorry complete different topic but I had to share.

+1 for the Sidenote to enable (pin) new library by default.

Any updates for us?

I’ve got to say I’m pretty happy I haven’t invested in a lifetime pass yet. Until the new version I didn’t really have any complaints and any little things were fixed by a simple press of the refresh button…I think I (and many others) would pay to downgrade at this point. Any update (even if it to say “Too bad…deal with it”) would be greatly appreciated and shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

I would 100% pay money to downgrade. I would hate doing it but, at this point, I just want it to be functional.

As an aside, I’ve started a reddit thread on the topic. It’s getting mixed feedback though. Some support from people here experiencing the issue would be helpful: https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/bjj8j2/the_new_appletv_app_is_majorly_broken_and_nobody/

Was hoping that it would get fixed by now, but have to post my 1st post somewhere I guess. :unamused:
Have been using Plex with Apple TV for a very long time now, this is the only time an update have bothered me that it really just needs to have a way back.
It’s like a doctor telling you that you will need 3 more cuts, that used to only take 1 cut.

I really do hope this will get resolved in the next update was so happy with plex.

Agree!

Developers take note!

Everyone is switching to Infuse because you refuse to listen to your customers.

Any updates for us?

Yeah I’m not optimistic. It’s been a MONTH since I originally posted and we still haven’t had a dev pop in here.

I’ve never been more disappointed in something I used to enjoy so much. As I mentioned above, I’ve supported Plex and it’s community for close to a decade. Now, I feel like our concerns are just being ignored and we’re getting left out to dry.

I already switched to Infuse, I’m just curious to see if anyone at Plex gives a ■■■■ about doing even a half decent job. It seems like they do not. I’ve been providing Enterprise level technical support for 10 years (5 years consumer support before that) and this is a master class in how not to do the job.

This is becoming intolerable. I’m about ready to drop Plex from my entire system. I’ve already stopped recommending Plex to friends.

And I’ve been a paying customer for years.
