AppleTV Plex Home Videos Jumping To Top Of Queue After Watching Video

Server Version#:1.20.3.3483
Player Version#:7.9(21968)

Issue I am having on AppleTV which was just updated to 14.2 however was happening on previous version as well. I have a VLOG (essentially home videos) library. I can scroll down say 25, 30, 50 videos and play one however as I exit that video Plex player will scroll all the way back to the top rather than leave me in the range where I was previously. This just started recently. On my Mac(s) this does not happen and did not happen on the AppleTV until recently. I assume it was a Plex server update? Plex player on the Mac is Version 1.22.0.1421-be6a7c42. Thoughts?

I’m surprised more folks in the forum are not jumping on board. We can’t be the only two people experiencing this issue.

Same here. Really annoying.

A buddy of me has exactly the same issue. We are all on latest Plex server and client on ATV. Also on ATV 14.2 is installed.
Hope some developer will find this thread and and takes care of the problem.

Problem still present, with todays released client version 7.10

Same issue, this is incredibly frustrating. it’s been intermittently happening for a few months, but seems to be 100% reproducible now.

Pointing out, from an emailer that I got from Plex this morning, a link to the latest Apple TV update Version 7.10 (from 6 days ago) has this “fix”:

  • Fixed an issue that could cause content rows to jump back and forth when returning from another screen.

I’m unsure if this is directly related, but that sounds somewhat like the issue I’m experiencing. Just checked the App Store and i was on a previous version… Apple TV is awful at updating apps. Just manually updated to 7.10 on Apple TV, and am 100% able to reproduce this issue, still. Sucks.

As beta tester I was able to install an older version of Plex to my Apple TV 4K.
I went back to Plex Version 7.7 - there everything was fine.
Starting with Version 7.9 the problem appeared. So there must been a change between the versions that evokes the issue.

Anyone out there from Plex listening? Is there some kind of bug form we can fill out?

Just realized something that may explain this behavior however still may not be 100% accurate. Pop open your Videos and scroll down towards the bottom or anywhere. Watch a video now when the video ends or it you stop it you will notice on the right side the # to Z bar on the left will be highlighting the letter that represents the name of the video you are on. In my Case “M” and at the same time the # at the top of the list is highlightdr as well and larger. Touch the remote to scroll and you are jumping to the # then essentially starting from the top hence why the selection seems to jump to the top. Now once you have exited a video and the # is highlighted swipe left and it may jump up a row however leaves you in the general area. Still seems buggy to me however I think we all might be selecting that # by mistake and hence the jump to the top? Does what I describe make sense? If not I can make a video and show you all. Again seems like a bug to me however starting to see what’s happening here. See if you can reproduce that as well.

@pomonr It seems that the problem has been recognized by Plex developers and will be treated in the next version.
