"Artefacts" On the whole screen since update 1.18.1.1973

Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973 on Synology
Player Version#: Web and Android client 7.22.1.12828

Logs, databases and screenshot are available here or here

Hello all,

Since the update, some video, old as well as new display of “artefacts” on the whole screen, whether with the web client or from the Android application.
A screenshot of what appears on the screen is available in the link above.
Sound and subtitles work properly.

The problem is identical in the same network or outside.
The videos are in MKV, but other MKV works.
I tried to run the database optimization but it didn’t change anything.

Do you have any idea what else I could do to fix the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Great, The video is display normally without the subtitles. But why the video and subtitle worked on the same video before the upgrade ?

Thank you.

Double check the bandwidth settings on the clients. Make sure they have not been reset to default for some reason (2 Mbps).

Hi FordGuy61, thank you for your answer, but I did a roll back on the 1.18.0.1944, and it’s ok now.

Hello,

I lost the installation file for version 1.18.0.1944 for NAS Synology x64, would someone please have it?

Regards,
Maxime

Please check out Transcoder Hardware Acceleration Broken with 1.18.1.1973 on Synology NAS and see if that is the same issue you are having. If so, please continue the discussion in that thread since we have some Plex people active on that thread.

Yeah, it’s the same problem, thanks for the tip.

Too bad that PLEX employees did not see my ticket before releasing version 1.18.1973 for the public…

There is a possible workaround while the development team resolves this.

On ApolloLake Synology models (J3355 / J3455 CPU), the issue comes from a problem with the Intel iHD driver and the chip.

The workaround (temporarily) is to force reverting back to the i965 driver.
While this does have issues with extremely high bit rate videos, it does work for those in the 20-30 Mbps range with ease.

Please let me know if you want to try it for your videos
