Asustor AS-3304T streaming over remote

Server Version#: 1.40.0.7998-c29d4c0c8
Player Version#: 10.11.0.183

Hi,

I’m trying to get my Asustor AS-3304T to stream without buffering to remote clients. According to this page it should be able to stream HD 720p using software transcoding.

However, I get regular buffering. The issue seems to be related to the transcoding, since I can recreate the issue by forcing transcoding while on my local network. Is there something I need to do to get the performance documented in that spreadsheet? I have “Media Mode” turned on in Asustor’s ADM, if that helps.

Thanks!

is in only when you playback with https://app.plex.tv/ ? If so make sure you have the EZ-router on and have green icons with all port forwarding (especially the plex ports of 32400). Then go to your local plex adres from the webpage of the nas. Enable the remote acces and put port 32400 as the outgoing port.

Thats how i fixed it.

This is in playback via browser and also playback via apps (eg I have Android app)

EZ-Router is enabled and green for port 32400. Imgur: The magic of the Internet

In the plex app itself (https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/) I see “Fully accessible outside your network” under “settings” > “remote access”.

Any help here? If it’s true that the Asustor AS-3304T can’t be used to stream remotely then can a Plex team member update the “Plex NAS Compatibility” document to reflect this?
