Let’s start from the begging, I have PMS running on my PC and I was using the Atv 4K to watch; Only problem it’s that atmos and dts:x doesn’t work (non problem that only apple can fix it)
So today I bought the new 2019 shield pro; all set up good, plex running fine, all movies playing good through wifi, direct play, receiver showing atmos or dts:X nicelly. BUT, when atmos in on the sound doesn’t is “atmos”, it’s the same as was getting on the Apple TV!
How I know the difference? Running the Media player from my B9 I got the REAL atmos sound, but if i enable subtitles I got the image transcoded and I lost the HDR (that’s the LG player problem).
The DTS:X plays ok using the Shield. I just want to know if there is any magic to solve that or I should just give up?
if atmos is showing on your receiver, then it means the receiver is detecting the atmos, and that plex and the shield are passing it through directly without any modification.
as far as the ‘sound’ you should probably check your receiver owners manual to ensure you have it properly configured and your speakers properly positioned for best atmos sound.
Atmos is simply an extension of existing surround, it is not always going to be obvious or ‘in your face’.
I don’t know what sound you think you are getting out of your tv, but it is not going to be truehd+atmos. ARC doesn’t support atmos or truehd.
