Player Version#:Roku Ultimate
I cannot get many of my film audio commentaries to play on Plex via my Roku Ultimate streaming player. They play fine on my computer, the Samsung Smart TV Plex app, and my Apple TV Plex app. Is there an known issue? Thank you.
No responses so far to my question. Anyone have any ideas??? Please help.
How are you trying to access the commentary tracks? Do they just not show up? Or are you not able to navigate to the options for audio tracks?
Can you provide the Roku software version you are using? Roku Home: Settings > System > About.
There was an issue in an early build of the 9.2 Roku software version that caused an issue. If that’s not it, we can investigate further.
OMG - thank you for your reply!! I was losing hope. Let me tell you what I am doing and what I’m attempting to accomplish. I am going through my film library on my server, using my computer, and choosing the secondary audio streams. I am then going to my Roku and playing the title. My project is to make a collection for audio commentaries. As I mentioned, the commentaries play on my other clients - Apple TV and Samsung Plex app (Tizen), as well as my computer. I have also tried changing the audio stream on the Roku itself. I really hope I’m making sense.

Verified that OS version should have the fix. Can you verify you have Direct Play
set to Auto
and not Force
? This can be found in the Playback
section of the settings. To update this globally, go Plex Home Screen -> User Button -> Settings -> Video -> Direct Play: Auto
Yes, it is on auto.
Thanks for confirming. This should work, so we’ll need to investigate locally with at least one of the videos in question to find the bug.
Can you please share one of the videos. Please DM me a link. To share, google drive or dropbox would work.
As a workaround while we investigate, you should be able to set Direct Play
to Disable
which will let the PMS choose the audio stream instead of the firmware.

Upload the file to google drive
Right click on the file and Share - from there you should be able to copy a ‘sharable’ link to the clipboard and that you’ll paste in a PM to @ljunkie

Verified we can replicate the issue. We’ll investigate further. In the mean time, to get the audio commentary for these, you can disable direct play in the settings before playback.
I forgot to follow up, but a version of Roku’s firmware starting selecting the wrong track during direct play. This was fix in a follow up 9.2 firmware release. We also just released a Roku channel update (6.4.8) that fixes another firmware regression selecting audio tracks when multiple languages exist.
