Audio file scan sucks!

Server Version#: 1.40.0.7998

I save audio files to my Music directory in a sub-folder, yet the server adds them all to the root of my library… Even after creating a new playlist and use the Add to… menu option on them, they don’t get moved into the playlist. They just sit there like none of the move/scan/update options work This is painful, please fix!

All of these settings are turned on:
Scan my library automatically
Run a partial scan when changes are detected
Scan my library periodically
Library scan interval
hourly

The way you see files in a Library has nothing to do with how those files are arranged in Playlists, so that much is expected.

Music files really need to be organized by Artist and Album. If they are loose files that are missing information, Plex will struggle.

Thanks for that info. It’s working a little better in this new version, but just seems hard to manage. What I’m doing is making playlists of various artists, where each playlist is a separate folder in the Win10 Music directory.

I’m new to Plex, but the terminology doesn’t help, but rather than ■■■■■ I will keep learning as I’m clearly not ‘getting it.’

The only way Plex will be happy is if the music files are organized like this.

Then, you can make whatever playlists you need in Plex.
