Audio Passthrough in Plex for Windows

Server Version#: 1.20.5.3600
Player Version#: 1.23.0

I always watch all of my series and movies on my television which is connected to my pc. this way i never have trouble with all of the codecs and playback. the ‘old’ plex media player used to auto passthrough all of the audio codecs to my surround system. the new plex for windows doesn’t pass through any audio other than 2.0. why is this not implemented in plex for windows. and is there another new plex version for windows with all of the new functions such as skip intro which also allows auto passthrough of DD5.1 and DTS.

How is the surround system connected? For maximum compatibility I recommend you to go per HDMI
Computer → AVR → TV

Also, how do your settings look like on this page?

my surround system is indeed connected via hdmi. i have the audio settings on automatic. i will try to manually set them. thanks for the advice.

i tried a very early version of plex for windows a while ago and this didn’t have support for passthrough ( or at least i wasn’t able to find it) so i thought maybe this version also didn’t support it

That screenshot is the first I’ve heard of the new Plex app having pass-through capability as well!

Since v1.9.0

well it works great over here so i am very happy that they implemented passthrough in plex for windows

the latest version i tried prior to this one was version 1.7.0
