Australian Content Ratings

Server Version#: 1.40.1.8173 (and at least a years worth of updates
Player Version#: All

Plex does not recognise au/MA15+, au/MA 15+, au/R18+, au/R 18+, au/X18 and au/X 18+ (in fact anything with a + after it) and has not for the last year or more.

Someone suggested just removing the + symbol, but then it is not the correct rating. It worked for years before that, but not anymore.

You may think that this is a small thing, but that is beside the point.

I even started from scratch, but nothing.

When the movies/tv shows are added by Plex, they show the ratings as au/MA15+, au/MA 15+, au/R18+, au/R 18+, au/X18 and au/X 18+, if any Australian rating is available, but when I go into the library and try to find any of the above, the search says no content, but if I go to page of the movie/tv show and rating shows correctly.

You’re putting the rating by itself in the search field? Or do you mean the advanced filter?

Sorry for the late reply.
It seems to only happen of Apple TV 17.x Plex and iOS 17.x.
On the macOS (Somona) Server the filter works, but on the Apple TV and iOS it says “The Active Filter has no Matches”.
If I remove the “+” it works, but anything that is added to Movies or TV comes in with the correct content rating (au/MA 15+, au/R 18+ or au/X 18+), but when I filter any of them it says the above.
Also since 17.x the movies and TV shows start paused at 0.00 (even though it shows as playing and I have to pause and play for it to start. The same thing happens if the end is reach and the next ep. starts.
Also the theme music only works on rare occasions or not at all, but works fine on iOS as does the autoplay feature.
Let me know if you need anything else. : )

ah ok. yeah i think i reproduced. Thanks for report.

Gonna ask you to make a new topic about this. We may need a sample file and Apple Tv logs

Always happy to help. If you need anything else, just ask. :ok_hand:

I have narrowed it down (maybe) to the New Video Player.

I tried the Old Video Player and Old Audio Engine, but the audio cut out half way through a TV episode… I disabled the old Audio Engine and that fixed the audio. With the Old Video Player on, the episodes started with no pause and continued to the next episode.

The problems of the Theme music and the Australian Content Ratings are still there. :sunglasses:

How do I make a new topic?

If I use the WATCHLIST to start a TV Show, the theme music plays every time?

Enter any category you feel is most appropriate and hit the New Topic button at the top. Like you went to the server category to start this one.

The new topic is created called “Australian Content Ratings”.

I’m confused… you just posted the exact same topic.
Didn’t you mean to create a post on a different topic (starting a show from the watchlist will play theme music)?

It’s all part of the same problem.
I am just letting you know anything new that relates to the things that are happening. :slightly_smiling_face:

Content ratings have nothing to do with theme music or audio cutting out.

Please make a separate topic about those. This one already covers the content ratings issue.

New Topic started.
“Apple T V Theme Music not playing and Audio cutting out”
