It would be interesting to set up an automatic update system of the PMS to always get the last release.
Option that could of course be activated or disabled on demand.
And what might be even better is being able to make an automatic backup of the old version before updating.

I’m using a Synology NAS. This would save me tons of clicks.
If I recall, there was originally an auto-update feature, but it caused more problems than it solved.
Thank you for your answers, I use PMS Thecus N2800 NAS on. Which has a great hardware but therefore the operating system is not as good as that of Synology. So no function automatic update packages …
It’s a shame to have set aside this feature. Hoping that a kind soul looks at the problems that this feature generates.
NB: I even look to install the OS Synology on my NAS Thecus to overcome this problem (and others) but impossible.

Might be worth looking for a way to write a cronjob that polls the update section and pulls it when available.

Simple fix. Give the option to enable or disable automatic updates, or let the user click a button to actually perform the update instead of sending them to the download page.
I agree that this would be a useful feature for all the versions of Plex.
I am running my main server on Ubuntu Linux and I was able to use a script from mrworf, posted here https://github.com/mrworf/plexupdate to automatically check for new version updates and then download/install the new version. Now, I have only been able to get it to work on Linux based Plex servers, so it would be great if they could integrate this type of function in the other OS servers like Windows or the version on embedded NAS hardware.
My other server is on a QNAP NAS which runs clean, but I have to manually update the server version every time there is a new release.

I have my Plex Server on a Windows 10 PC. Whenever a new server update is available, i click download from within the Server Web GUI, and then when i click install, it pretty much always says “something went wrong, click here to manually install”
So I don’t think the “auto-update” would be good until they can make it an easier update process.
i can’t afford for my server to go down, especially if I would have to teamviewer into my computer to manually update it.
